Hi guys,
I was stumbling around the web like we do, looking for stuff about ED when i came across a forum for Peyronie's Disease where they talk about using Trazodone on low dose for ED. Apparently it is an antidepresant with a side affect of Priapism, involuntary erections. The guys in there who have had prostatectomy use it at 25mg low dose for penile therapy, the drug is taken after an evening meal and they talk about getting good nocturnal erections.
I wondered if anyone in here had come across this or was using it and would welcome any comments please

Ahh. This is one of the major reasons I hang around here - looking for people thinking "outside the box" as far as ed is concerned! I, too, had been surfing the net last night and this morning for help for my husband but instead found a physician's blog on a young man with priapism. Unfortunately, it's because his spinal cord was irreversibly damaged in an automobile accident. Your discovery is waaaay better. I hope someone has some observations on trazodone. I'll be checking it out...

I think we may have found the same site, I saw that a few weeks ago. I had a 'scrip for Trazadone to help me sleep when first diagnosed. I'm waiting to see my Dr for a refill as it expired not too long after my surgery and I never bothered to get it renewed.

Gotta say I never noticed an increase in nocturnal action when I first got it and of course in the first month post surgery it wasn't an issue.

Keep us posted if you try it.

I've been taking 75 MG of Trazodone before bed to help me sleep off and on for the better part of 10 years. Here all this time I thought my erections were natural. Anyway, I'm still taking trazodone each night and due to have my catheter removed in 2 days. I'll keep all those concerned of my ED progress updated.

I have been taking traz since I accompanied my wife to Houston for her stem cell transplant in May 2006. 14 weeks in a one bedroom apt and I got the worst case of insomnia that I was not able to shake upon return. My doc put me on it and I have been on it ever since.

I have had nocturnals since shortly after my surgery. Maybe it is keeping the blood flowing. At 17 months post surgery I see ever increasing signs that I may have something useable in the near future.

All along the Traz was helping and I thought it was only giving me a good night's sleep.

I have not had a prostate problem, but my doctor recently prescribed trazodone to replace ambien for sleeping.  A side effect I noticed was more erections at night. Also, levitra is more successful the day after having taken trazodone at night.  I think trazodone is an alternative ED med, or supplement to the others.  Has anyone had similar experiences, and what minimum dosage of trazodone seems to work.  I find it sometimes gives me a headache, and I would like to use it for ED, without the drowsiness.

This is a (possible) life preserver tossed to a drowning man.  I just made an appointment with my Uro to talk "frankly" about ED now that it's been 18 months post DaVinci.  I've been through the trimix/bimix/hand pumps and the shots just kill me (pain/twisting/hour after hour).  Cialis is not effective and Viagra gave me the "blue light" effect.  Now, at least, I have something to talk about with the URO.

I have been taking Trazadone since 1998,  I had a prostectomy last year and have not seen, nor felt a rise since my surgery (day or night).  I think that, like most prescriptions, they work differently for every one.  I take 50 mg per night, and as with others I take it so that I can sleep.  But if it works for some that is great.  I would be careful about adding more meds to your life.  Body chemistry is very touchy sometimes.  As for ED I have been given a script for Cialis, and have purchased a pump.  Pump first then maybe the meds.
