A compound made from the bark of a cork tree ---- East Asian cork tree, Phellodendron amurense

Scientists at the U.T. Health Science Center are studying a Chinese herbal medicine that may help prevent the recurrence and side effects of prostate cancer in men like Fitzgerald.

It’s a compound made from the bark of an East Asian cork tree, Phellodendron amurense. It’s sold in pill form as an anti-inflammatory. But early animal studies showed it shrunk tumors in mice.

There is something about it coming out of nowhere that actually would get my spirits up. There seems to perpetually be several drugs that show hope. I/d always hoping for 1 that, out of nowhere, changes everything for all of us.

If it works the price will go up. I wonder if it is too late to buy stock in cork trees. Maybe I will grow some.

Bob- hope is eternal, keep hope alive, there are alot things having potential in diseases. Originally all our medicines came from natural resources, now some are man made and better living through chemistry mantra's.   (lol)

Gedunin is from a tree in India and has been found as a novel Hsp90 inhibitor, shown to manifest anticancer activity. (Journal of Medicinal Chemistry 2008). Hopefully someone will find out if it has value in PCa.

A drug used in kidney transplants, used commonly now in that proceedure and was FDA approved, comes from a fungus found only in the Easter Islands.....this is the twilight zone of medicine. (LOL) (a clue)
