I got my AMS 800 1/11/11 and was activated about
2/15/11 but I quickly developed some urethral pain in the first days. I tried various "break in" proceedures and finally went to using the AUS every day, just a few hours then increased the "on" time till finally it was getting comfortable by my last doctor follow-up visit. My doc was concerned also and did a cysto which came up negative for urethra damage. Now the thing is on 24/7 and no pain. Needless to say I am really pleased that my body has finally accepted it's new part. I really liked the way it worked but not the pain, now it is being used as intended (all the time) and I am completely dry (except for the occasional dripple and accidental deflation). Now life is good. It is still a little wierd to have a scotum full of tubes and pumps but that is my new normal now and not too bad. One good thing about
the AUS pump having a big brother ,IPP pump, is that it forces me to sit a little more carefully and that helps, I think, to keep from sitting wrong on my AUS pump. The pain I had was unusual according my to my doctor and it is a giant relief to see that stop. To sum up, yippee!
