Hi KW,
Nice to hear that things are still good for you.
My story... I had the AUS fitted just over 12 months ago. For the first 6 months, I had minimal leakage and used 1 or 2 light liners a day, mostly to catch the drips caused by my own impatience in not waiting the 45-60 seconds for the device to re-arm itself. In the last few months, I seem to have increased my pad usage, and now wear a small pad (a Poise pad with the one drop symbol on it) as opposed to a liner.
I spoke to my urologist who suspects that some "thinning" of the urethra may be occurring. This happens in some people due to atrophy of the tissue under the cuff. If it reaches an unacceptable level (I'm far from that), then they can add an extra cuff beside the existing one. In fact, prior to surgery, I asked the doc why he wasn't giving me a double cuff straight up, and he said that if I ever got this atrophy, there would still be room for them to add another cuff. It is far from that at the moment. He said there was some thought - not demonstrably proven - that turing the AUS off at night gives the tissue some respite and may prevent or slow down further atrophy. So I've started doing that. I still leak at night, but not a lot, so it's working out OK.
