Just got back from the URO after my first TRIMIX injection

I just got home after having my first TRIMIX injection at my URO's office and as much as I hate needles I can say it didn't hurt at all. He used a 30ga insulin needle. On this first dose of .3ml, I got about a 60% erection and it lasted about and hour and a half. I know this was not good enough for any penetration but my doc says it is a start in getting blood flow back in my limpy penis. I also had no pain from the meds and for the first time in a couple of weeks I feel like I may be able to satisfy my wife again soon. BTW Cialis and Viagra did nothing, Muse got maybe 30% for 15 minutes but burned like a hot poker. The doc told me to try injecting myself this weekend and getting some stimulation from my wife and trying a .4ml dose.

I seem to be confused about dosing terminology and I discussed this with my doc. Some Trimix users here talk about doses in units some in ml. I asked the nurse today what is a 'unit" she told me a unit is .1ml (1/10th of a ml) not .01ml and .3ml would be 4 units and 1ml is 10 units. So in a 1ml insulin syringe 3 units would be about 1/3 of the syringe or .3ml. I guess I am still confused.

I don't have a syringe in front of me but 1/3 of the whole thing would kill you. 

You probably only want three little marks from the end should equal 3 units.

The 1ml insulin syringe the URO used is very small and has numbers from 10 to 100 in 10 increments on the side and the dose I had was to the number 30 or .3ml and it wasn't strong enough to get more than the 60% erection. and now 3 hours after the injection I am back to the old limp stubby.  I just looked at another syringe and I  stand corrected about the units measurement, where the 100 is printed it does say units so then the dose I got was 30 units. In this syringe 1 or 2 units would be barley a drop of the meds. I must have misunderstood what the nurse told me about units. Maybe this mix is watered down vs what others are using here??

Why is the uro measuring Trimix in an insulin syringe? These are measured in insulin units and used for insulin dosing. He/she should be using a tuberculin syringe, either 0.5 mL or 1.0 mL to measure the dose. These are cabibrated in mL (cc) units. Each small mark is 0.01 mL. Each unit on an insulin syringe is 0.01 mL. 10 units is 0.1 mL. The nurse needs to go back to math school.  You can get small 30g needles to use with tuberculin syringes.

my needles are like yours insulin type 100cc marked on side with 1cc increments marked small and 10's in darker print, Doc said use them as they are very fine. I started on 30cc as well and ended up at 60cc took a while as doc said only go up 5cc at a time until ok. Didn't want priapism, so was a slow process, at this point my doc says use injections every 3rd day wether I use the end result or not. I do what others here have suggested the plump & prick method and it works every time.
I am using Alprostadil 10MCG, it works well but it is painful after so doc will change script when I see him in a few weeks, we have corresponded via email thru the process. Injections aren't as bad as I thought it would be, only thing that works, had little effect with V,C orL so at this stage that is where it's at for me. Hope it goes ok for you as well.

Tim the syringes were part of the prescription called into the compounding pharmacy for the TRIMIX and then uesd at his office today. The syring by BD says Insulin has both 100 units and 1.0ml/cc printed on the side. Unless I missed something wouldn't .01 ml on the insulin syringe be the same dose as .01ml on the tuberculin syringe? I assume the 30 units dose I had today on the insulin syringe is also .30ml

My URO told me the same thing about increasing doses until I get full hard erection that lasts for 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Also told me to do every 3 days even if do not use the end result. He doesn't want me to use the pump unless the TRIMIX doesn't ever produce desired results, said something about getting too dependant on pumping.  Thanks for the encouragement and comments.

Yep, its hard to measure 2 units ... especially with my bifocals ... usually my wife, the nurse, loads the syringe.  I use a syringe that only takes 30 units (0.3 ml); therfore, the tube is thinner, and the unit marks are spaced farther apart.  It makes measuring 2 units easier.

I'm also using the insulin syringes and as others have stated 100 units = 1 ml so a does of 30 units is .30 of a ml. I found that .50 ml of the trimix worked but not quite so I upped it to .55 ml the next time and it was much better. A little burning but all worth it, the trimix suppository gel was down right painful and not effective, more expensive too.

I also tried the bimix, no burning but not enough to raise the flag to full mast.

Everyone is different so dosages vary form one guy to the next.

You're right, 0.01 mL equals one unit on an insulin syringe.  The nurse's math is still wrong.  I'm surprised that the compounding pharmacy sent you insulin syringes, but I guess they may be easier to use (to see the unit measures) than a tuberculin syringe, which the compounding pharmacy sent me.

The insulin syringes were developed for diabetics.  Each unit line is equivalent to 1 unit of U-100 insulin (100 units/mL).  Glad you're having some success.  Sometimes the mix can be adjusted so that you have better erections.  Or the dose.  Some guys here do fine with minuscule doses.  Everyone's different.

Well I self injected for the first time last night the .4ml (40 units) dose and got maybe 70% erect. It was surprising how easy and painless the injection was for my first time not even a bee sting pain.  I was somewhat disappointed in the result as was my wife but as my doc said it may take awhile until we find my correct dose. From others experiences here with TRIMIX, their correct dosages are all over the place from less than .1ml to .7ml. I will wait the 3 days and try .5ml next per the docs instructions. I also did not experience much burning or discomfort from the TRIMIX a lot less than the side effects of Cialis and Viagra. If I do find the right dose and it works 95-100% my wife and I will be very pleased in the future. To any of you who are thinking about injections but do not like the thought of needles it was so easy and painless and IMO if it can produce the desired end results and a better quality of life it is darn well worth it. wink

Terry: not a bad report for you first run at home. You will be able to zone in with the correct dose and you will be good to go. Isn't much easier than you would have thought? I am just amazed how simple it is.

I found the postings very informative especially about the dosage. I do have a couple of questions.

First, do you get better results if you inject more to the base of the penis? I do. Also I found if I stimulate myself a little before and get a little larger it makes finding the right spot easier.

Some instructions say to inject slowly and to rub the area after to circulate the medication. Is this useful?

I also fnd that the results are different on which side i inject

If you have any doubts about the doseage or the syringe call the office.  This is powerful stuff and nothing to guess about.

For me it took a few tries to get the right dose.  I was told not to exceed 8 injections a month, inject at the base, hold pressure on the site and walk around for a couple of minutes. 

A lot of doctors prefer their own formula for various reasons. You can't go by what works for one guy as a guide. skull skull skull   They may have the standard formula and you may have a different mix.

I use BD Insulin Syringes 1/2 ml/cc (up to 50 units), 12mm (1/2" long), 30 guage

My Trimix isn't the standard formula and I've found I need only 18 units (.18ml) to do the job. I think my prescription is high test.....  smokin'-off-the-rims-rubber-burnin'-high test.....  

Takes 5-7 minutes for Junior to look serious. In 10 minutes he's ready for combat. yeah

Doc told me I'd probably end up needing .20-.30ml and he was close.

Thanks for the info. I agree with what you said. I also found that injecting at the base is better.  ALso found that my penis is more senstive and I have stronger, more pleasureable orgasm. My wife likes the hardness which she say seems thicker. Maybe TRIMIX is the answer to getting a bigger one.  LOL Just joking

When the surgeon removed my prostate he removed little over 2 inches from the middle of my plumbing and reconnected it!!!!  That had to shorten things up a bit.  I mean, you know the law of physics stuff.  Subtract the distance from the middle and both ends come closer, don't they?  

I told my sweet thang the doc cut me back to normal......  she said, ....well it doesn't matter what she said, what the heck does she know about physics anyway?   tongue

I been using injections for thre months. My wife and I have observed that my penis has shrunk in the flaccid state and the skin is very loose. Even looks at times like I have a foreskin which I don't. Is this from the skin stretching during the erection? On the other side of the coin, we have both observed that Im a lot thicker when erect maybe because of the new hardness. By the way, I always grew a lot when erect.

Has anyone else onserved what we have?

Skipper, shrinkage is very common and well discussed in this forum. This is something most docs do not tell you before surgery or I think a lot less guys would choose RP's.

Shipper, doing research before my surgery, I'd heard of other men saying they lost a little penis length after prostatectomy.  I asked my surgeon about it before my prostatectomy and he told me my bladder would shift down and fill the area where he removes the prostate and I should see no difference in penis length.  My  flacid length does seem a little shorter now but I'm not complaining. Maybe it's because of traumatized nerves and blood supply issues the flacid state is totally flat.   I don't see any difference when I'm errect.  If there is a slight difference in length when errect neither of us have noticed.  Just glad to be cancer free and enjoying sex again.  yeah

Thanks. I'm not that concerned about shrinkage as if anything I'm thicker when erect. I guess because the TRIMIX makes me very hard. Was just curious why I shrink so much in the flaccid state which isnt that important.

I won't kill you. Could result in a trip to the ER. My dosage amount is 60 units. That is over half the syringe.
