I was 64 when diagnosed, but 65 when I had the surgery, so I sort of fall into two categories.  And since my birthday is tomorrow, I'll be 66 before this poll is completed.  yeah The results should be interesting.  We seem  to have a lot of young folks here on HW. 

Time sure flies.

I went with 50 - 54. I started on this path when I was 49 and the biopsy was the day before my 50th birthday. At that point I was pretty sure where things were headed, but the official diagnosis came after I had turned 50.

It was, by far, the worst birthday of my life. I've always been young and healthy (people think I'm closer to 40) so getting cancer and turning 50 at the same time was a shock and made me feel a heck of a lot older.  I just turned 51 and what a difference a year makes! Other than the ED issues I feel great and my PSA is undetectable!

53...really sucked. But, doing well, now. I was not that well prepared for some of the SE's. Well, one in particular, the ED. But, I'm doing well there......now. The docs weren't very good at putting that part out front.

But (and the really important one)...no PSA/cancer detected at my last test.

Next test, 3 months.

Interesting poll - makes me realize that I'm not so alone being diagnosed at 52. Diagnosed last month.

I was 69...of course this is not a scientific survey...I am sure the biggest number of the general population that is diagnosed is over 65.

The average age at diagnosis in the US is 70, but the median age at diagnosis has dropped (significantly) to 67 reflecting the skewed distribution causes by younger-and-younger men being diagnoses with smaller-and-smaller amounts of PC.

Older generations are generally not as computer savy

as the younger generations.  So lets not get carried away

on the age survey results.

 

This PCa age poll pulls from a pool of:

   1) PCa brothers that belong to this site (AND)

   2) Those who respond.

However, I am still very intrested on the age groups here

at Healing Well.
