Hi K-Ray,
Scholz takes new patients. His initial consultation fee is $600. Because it is a phone consultation, my Blue Cross insurance didn't cover it.
After the initial consultation, he charges less. He expects that you will have an phone consult at least every six months to stay on the active list. He will call in prescriptions to your local pharmacy. He gives you a fee list so you know what everything will cost. I find I don't consult all that often, so I can bear the expense.
I'll also say that it's been well worth it for his expertise in my case. I've gone to three medical oncologist locally, none of whom specializes in prostate cancer. They strictly go by NCCN, and slavishly adhere to "evidence-based medicine" to the point that they have, in my opinion, abdicated their rational faculties.
Two other practices specialize in prostate cancer: Dr. Snuffy Myers (Virginia) and Dr. Liebowitz (California). I've also heard there is an open-minded oncologist in Florida. From his videos and from all I've heard, I think very highly of Dr. Myers (formerly at the National Institute of Health).
If you learn of any more options, please share.
