Thanks to prostate cancer I have done things in the last 3 months that I never thought I would do in my lifetime. It is Friday afternoon and obviously I have too much time on my hands. BTW the following were definitely not on my bucket list either.

  1. Had major surgery with a robot named Davinci
  2. Had my private parts exposed to more poking, prodding and fondling by more strangers in 3 months than in the total in the first 60 years of my life
  3. talked openly to family, friends and even strangers about my PC, my penis and ED and associated treatments
  4. Wore Depends diapers and pads
  5. Self Injected my penis with  syringes  of erectile medications
  6. Searched the Internet for adult toys to help with  my ED problems
  7. And Finally today I walked into my first Adult Toy store and talked without embarrassment, with a 20 something pretty blond female clerk about information on purchasing penis pumps and "cock" rings to help with my ED injections and wishing I was 20 something again.

Kinda liberating ain't it. I remember making that same trip to the adult store and being waited on by the same type help. Who would have ever thunk it.

Sonny, In 2006 the Alabama legislature passed a bill making adult toy stores illegal and the particular one I was in today is the ONLY one in the state as it got grandfathered by the 2006 law. Lucky for me the store is only 8 miles from my house.  I got there shortly after it opened at 9am and it was doing a brisk business. I figured getting there early would mean fewer customers and less embarrassment. smilewinkgrin

Sonny, BTW Cajun Jeff tells me you are one great guy to know and a lot of fun at GFMPH gatherings.

I've made that visit.  You feel as if you should rub some mud on your license plates, put on a hat and dark glasses, maybe pay cash instead of credit, and have a liberal supply of hand sanitizer in the car console for when you come out.

You are right, Water Guy, PC does change things. Its been almost two years since I started on the PC road. Biopsy, surgery, and office visits got me loosened up about the "private parts and functions". The uro needs to know if anything doesn't seem to be OK so all you can do is tell it like it is.

I've heard some especially positive types say that cancer is a "gift". If it's a gift, I think I'd like to exchange it for something a little more practical (perhaps even a nice pair of socks). However, while saying it's a "gift" is perhaps spreading it on a little thick, I think it does tend to open one's eyes to what is really important in life.

While Cajun Jeff is telling the truth about Sonny, he is no slouch himself. He definitely brightens the room.
Don't know if you got the memo but GFMPH NY #3 is 9/23,24,25 at my place. You would fit right in. tongue

I do believe that you are on Cajun Jeff's list of the good guys along with Sonny. Cajun Jeff and I have already had several conversations and I look forward to meeting him and the PC gang someday soon. Unfortunately, the GFMPH #3 at your place is not doable this year but I want to go to #4. The only positive thing so far from my PC journey has been this forum and the Internet friendships and support from it. Can't wait for my first GFMPH party, thanks for the invite.

Actually I need to clarify something there has been one other positive from my PC Journey. It  brought my wife of 40 years and I closer than we have been in many years in a way it reinvigorated our marriage. However, it has also produced a negative we are so much "closer" that it makes us both so horny like we were in our 20's and 30's but I can't do a dam thing about it YET!! In the 2 months between my BX and the date with the robot we made sure my prostate ran on empty and it was returned with flat tires. yeah

I have an adult toy "superstore" in my area. Sometime after my surgery I walked in to buy my wife a "toy." They must have had a hundred choices on a several aisles. I remember thinking what the ___ . So, I tried to look as cool as possible while I browsed and picked the most realistic/practical one I saw and went to the counter to pay for it. It was a young female cashier of course. She reminded me to not store the batteries in it. :-)

Seems this thread has been hijacked by the Adult store conversation, so I of course need to put in my thoughts. Being 41, I have been in adult bookstores since my 20's. There are lots of fun ideas to come out of a store like that. No need to be embarrassed, just imagine that everyone seeing you walk in is thinking "darn, his wife is lucky, he is a creative lover!" or "he must have a great love life"

Walk in like you belong there and don't forget the batteries!!! (haha)

Of all the firsts I have had with PCa, probably the most memorable was my first night home from the hospital--it was the first night in 4 years I didn't have to get up and go pee once or twice during the night. It was my first solid night of sleep in 4 years.

No Susan you have not hijacked this thread as this was in my OP and the one thing I thought most I would never do in my lifetime but forced to by PC.

After being there yesterday and observing several very attractive and young girls in the Toy store I can totally relate to your comment:

My first thoughts were, wow how lucky their husbands or boyfriends were. LOL
