Can you come to Chicago on Sunday morning, September 18 th to join in the 2011 SEA BLUE Prostate Cancer Walk/Run ? The mission of the Prostate Cancer Walk/Run ( LINK ) is to saves lives and defeat PC through S upport, E ducation and A dvocacy. The event is a joint venture between two non-profit organizations: · Us Too International Cancer Education and Support Network , and · Wellness Place, Cancer Education and Support . Several HealingWell members have already indicated an interest in participating, and possibly rendezvousing together. Come join in the fun! Mark the date: Sunday morning, September 18

I haven't signed up yet, but plan to. It would be great to see a lot of the guys from Chicago and the burbs there.

LINCOLN PARK is one of the jewels of Chicago Park District. It contains:

* Lincoln Park Zoo (free admission to all, and one of the oldest zoos in the country)

* Lincoln Park Conservatory

* The Chicago History Museum

* The Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum

* North Avenue Beach (swimming in Lake Michigan)

* a rowing canal

* outdoor theater

* numerous playing fields

Lincoln Park began as a small public cemetery on the northernmost boundary of Chicago where victims of cholera and small pox were buried in shallow lakeside graves. Aware of the public health threat, citizens began demanding the cemetery's conversion to parkland in the 1850s. In 1860, the city reserved a 60-acre unused section as Lake Park. Shortly after the assassination of Abraham Lincoln (1809-65), 16th President of the United States, the park was renamed in his honor.

In 25 days, on Sunday, September 18th, Lincoln Park will host the 2011 SEA BLUE Prostate Cancer Walk/Run.

Very good guess, Tony!  But we have only recently, for the first time since the events of 1968, entered a likely extended era of non-Daleys in the mayor’s office, so any statue to Abbie Hoffman of any of the other Chicago Seven in Lincoln Park has been (at least up to this point) been highly unlikely.

I would love to join in, but Sept 18 is also CARA's (Chicago Area Runners Association) 20 mile "Ready to Run" event. It's the final long run for those training for the Chicago Marathon. Expect 5000+ runners slightly to the east of the PCa run, along the Lakefront.

Casey,

I'm getting ready to submit my application.  Please advise:  is there a "team" I should be joining, or do I just submit an individual application?  Also, isn't there a code word that can be used to reduce the signup fee by $5?
