Hey Terry,

Don't worry about the mosquitoes. They are not around at this time of year. The birds and bats have eaten them, and the cold finished off the ones that were still hiding.
You'll be perfectly safe walking around with your TW dragging in the freshly mowed grass. But, stay away from the firepit.

Jeff, I will also be bringing a gas grill, complete with 25lb LP tank. Dick I will give you a hand with grilling the chicken.

Jeez, here we go again, talking about food and I have to loosen my belt.

Hi Jeff. I will be comming in an Friday, mid-afternoon, and will probably leave Sunday around noon. Really looking forward to the feastivities. Food sounds great. I will bring some wine. BTW, I also grill a lot of chicken and never par boil. BB

That is great! You are going to love the craziness.
This event is shaping up nicely. With so many guys with chick'n cookin' 'sperience I'll be able to concentrate on slurping raw clams and testing the various wines for optimal pairing.

By the way, when I was kid I worked at Chicken Delight. We battered and deep fried 'em. Shrimp and ribs too.

I can't wait! :-)

I think I'm the other guy who mentioned a hotel. I'll be rolling in Thursday afternoon and staying at the Holiday Inn Express. I'll be leaving Sunday.

I'm not sure what, if any, Friday festivities are planned, but I'll be ready for whatever happens. Maybe sometime next weekend we can do a sling seminar. I've got a feeling running down my leg that's telling me I'll be under the knife again sometime soon.

Anyway, it sounds like one helluva soiree you're planning. Looking forward to seeing you guys.

-the mini-GFMPH held in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada with Cajun Jeff, Bayou Jackel, Mickey1955, Tatt2man (me) and our spouses - Pat, Doreen, Theresa and Steve (he's mine)- was FANTASTIC-

-I got lost twice - my astigmatism (or was that alzheimers?) had me park at the wrong Day's Inn ( there are three now in Niagara Falls Canada) - and then later drive by Tony Romas and miss it by a mere 5 blocks before turning around.....
-the food was great, the company and conversations were full of laughter, shared thoughts and a grand time.

-I dropped off with Cajun Jeff some of the Prostate Cancer Canada awareness pins to give out to the newbies at the GFMPH Rochester 2011.

- I also had some of my studio tour flyers so (Water Guy in particular) you can see why I am not able to go to the gathering - also a couple of pamphlets about the Closer Campaign for the Peterborough Regional Hospital - we are raising money to build a radiation bunker at the hospital.Currently, men and women who need RT have to travel 1-1/2 -2 hours to other hospitals to get treatment.

Here's to the guys and gals who are going to the GFMPH#3- Rochester - it will be the best thing you have done for yourself this year!

I hope I am one of those newbies who gets one of your Canadian Prostate awareness pins and so wish I had been in Niagara Falls for the Mini GFMPH yesterday.  You do not have to worry about me EVER questioning why you did not attend our GFMPH next week, what you are doing for PC awareness and treatment in Canada is so much more important than a weekend in the woods with us. Maybe we meet next time. smilewinkgrin

cmetalman start saving you change you may have enough saved up enough for the spring event. Not sure where it will be just yet we will have a discussion about it at the GFMPH NY.

Heck save that bag it could be used for a demonstration at the next fall gathering. :)

Thanks for shedding some light on this fun event! I think I'd have a blast. You guys sound like my kind of guys!! No, we won't be able to make it as we are on the west coast and have a young child in school :) But, you guys go and have a blast and be sure to report back on all the good times sharing and bonding with each other. Take photos!!

I went to a similar event in Las Vegas for breast cancer survivors a couple years ago and it was a great time!

Have some red wine for us! I had a couple glasses last night and now am nursing myself with water :)

I'd be happy to discuss the sling and do consider myself a success story. However But, there are some negatives things that were not presented anywhere.
the two biggies are:
1) Kegels work backwards now. When I kegel, rather than stopping flow - I squirt.
2) It takes me so long to pee when I go to a public restroom, parents move their kids to the opposite side of the room in fear that I am a lurking predator. And with the negative kegel effect I can't cut the process short. 2.5 minutes seems like forever. At 4 x per day, that means I spend 1% of my waking day peeing. I try to multiplex by doing it in the shower.
I am waiting for winter so I can have the pleasure of writing in the snow. I can easily do full name, social security number, and telephone number with area code.
As a challenge I tried to see how far I could get writing the Gettysburg Address:
"Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this... con...tin..." - Figures! I'd end up on that word.
Honest! I can demo this skill in the GFMPH pee gravel - no cameras please.

Jeff, I think on Tuesday we are going to starting heading your direction from the north. We have a we thing we need to catch on the way. I think we might go to Corning Museum on Tuesday. We just might show up early say Wed. to help you with any setups you need to do (if you dont mine)

Jeff can you tell me if the Holiday Inn express is the best place for us to secure? How you talked to them yet?

Corning is a great place to visit. Lots of historical glass. Spend some time in the museum and see how many pieces you recognize.

I did not call hotels yet. I will call on Monday when the manager is there. Holiday Inn Express is right off Rt 390 on Ridge Rd West - about as close as you can get to our place.

Buddy, you can come any time! I planned on setting up tents on Wed night or Thursday morning - after we finish mowing.
Sadly I also have a meeting on Wed night that required my attendance. (Some people have to work you know.)

I can't wait!

For what it's worth, I'm staying at the Holiday Inn Express. It had pretty good user ratings and was reasonably priced ($109/night). Plus, there's a free breakfast bar.

If you stay there, I'll buy you a cup of coffee in the morning. yeah

Absolutely! Have you not checked Paul's bio? He's a professionally trained foodie, once owned a B&B and has such a bright personality he can light up Howe Caverns. The Breakfast Casserole radiates love - and cholesterol.
(Unlike my barn which radiates high energy UV. WaterGuy will tell you all about it.)

We'll let the dust settle for a day or so and see how many guys we can put up here. You might only be staying in the hotel one night.

Sunday Evening

Worried Jeff, as you know by my e-mail, I will not be able to make it to the meet after all. I waited all weekend to make my final decision, and based on how I am feeling, especially the past week or so, I don't feel that I would be able to deal with all that I am dealing with in the pain/fatigue department that far from home.

I wish all of you the very best of times on the coming event. It would have been great, and I was looking forward to it, and for once, the expense of the trip wasn't a problelm. Unfortunately, after my struggles for the past 3 years, I am not getting better, if anything, I keep shifting downward. I am strictly on a day by day basis, and have to be thankful for the little bits that I am able to accomplish.

Today was going to be a sailing day, had a full crew lined up, grandhildren too, perfect weather and sailing conditions, but was too wrapped up in severe back/hip pain, so I had to abort that as well for now.

I look forward to hearing all the wild tales coming out of New York, want all the wicked details too. May all of you attending have the best of times, I will be thinking about you all.

I am available by phone or e-mail if anyone wishes to communicate during the event.

With all that cabbage laying around, take that add some potato,some cauliflower and some ham . Cook that up and make yourself a batch of solidarity stew. Add some corn bread and BAMM! you're in business!!!

Do not worry about not being able to attend. We know you will be here in spirit. Actually in some ways you are still here. To be perfectly honest, I am still finding pieces of your old catheter bag we exploded last year. I wouldn't be surprised if Gil Grissom from CSI discovered some of your DNA on a shard or two of catheter shrapnel.

I am sure we will have a chance to get together. Something tells me there will be more of these events in other places around the country - each one with it's own unique style and flavor. If there isn't one in your area soon we'll just have to drive down there and visit you.

We'll raise a glass or two in your honor.

 What 50 pounds  for newbies? I am in training and up to 85 pounds
