For a long time we have heard that red wine may slow progression of PCa.  Makes sense, especially since they found a link to breast cancer.

With all the red wine I drink it must be what kept my PC from being any worse or at least I like to tell myself that. smilewinkgrin

My wife won't drink red, loves her white, and is going through her second bout with breast cancer in 15 years. I drink at least one glass of red a day and have for at least 15 years and had a cancer packed gland. Go figure. I agree with the above as it probably kept me from being G10. Regardless, it is my drug of choice and I will stick with it.

What is your favorite? I tend toward the more rustic hotter weather reds with a little bolder flavor.

I think we have the same red wine tastes. I love big bold grapey colored Syrahs, Super Tuscans  and  Cotes Du Rhone blends as well. I have an online source for wines that get shipped to me free and are 50% or more bellow retail. I bought 2 bottles of a 2006 Super Tuscan this morning that retail for $60 a bottle for $19.99 and free shipping too.  Send me an email and I will send you the link to this website. I tell my wife now red wine is GFMPH and she lets me drink all I want, at least until my liver gives out.

An email is coming re the wine. A few years ago I found a great super tuscan that has gone missing in Atlanta from a vintner called Villa Pillo. Name of the wine is Borgforte. Low cost and wonderful. I found it through my chef son when he was studying at the CIA. Try it if you can.

Isn't it great the added value we receive from our association on thes board?

Wow! I have heard for years that red wine slows progression of pCa, but my own oncologist has told me many times to stay away from alcohol in general as I had a bout with breast cancer. Turns out, red wine is my FAV and my husband's as well!! Now that he has been dx'd with pCa, I think a nice bottle is in order!!

Given beer makes me pee, and my wife doesn't drink beer, we're more than happy to drink wine.
A quick glance in my "cellar" reveals Reds from France, Spain, Sicily, Chile, S. Africa, California (A potent Zinfandel), and even a few German Red wines. Whites are from Australia, France, Italy, Germany and even England. (Spoilt for choice here in Holland when it comes to wines from around the world.)

Backspin - you're right! I should have checked with my oenologist!! Duly noted :) Next time I need a suggestion on a good hearty red, I will be checking in with you guys!
