Is bathroom soap an Okay lubricant for Osborn pump?

Husband has the Osborn pump, but says it doesn't work.  He uses it in the shower with soap and says that's just as good a lubricant as gel.  We only read the booklet that came with the pump, so I have found a video that explains better how to use it, which I will share with him later today.  But I would like to know if soap is a good enough lubricant?

I think that the issue is more what happens to the pump's internals if the soap gets into the mechanism as it is creating the vaccum. Since I wound up with the $600 pump, and it explicitly voids the warranty to use anything but the water-based gel, I wouldn't go the soap route.

Imagine the soap scum on the shower/tub inside the pump.

A better route for the shower would be an inexpensive one that can be thrown away without too much concern.

Also, it helps to do a little clipping in the contact area - cleaner seal.

Soap can be drying and irritating..Use something like K-Y jelly that's made for the job..(K-Y is WAY overpriced..There are equally effective products available at low cost)..

a water based lubricant is best for the pump - you can get a generic version of ky at most pharmacy's - he can have a naughty flashback to teens moment ( or maybe you) searching for the right thing in the personal care aisle - among the condoms and such -
-soap can destroy the inner working of a good number of pumps. Only the sheath part should be cleaned with soap and water.
-remember to have him shave or cut back the pubic mound to create a better vacuum seal and use lubricant to "wake up winky" and start to get the blood moving before inserting into the vacuum.
-if he tried to vacuum it before it has any body to it, it would be like blowing up a compressed balloon - awkward and painful.

I regularly use a cheap VED without any lubricant at all. I guess it depends on the pump, your anatomy and technique. (Secret: give everything a good shake to stop skin sticking to tube.) If you don't mind experimenting, worth a try.

I like several others use the cheap VED in the show with soap and it works great. That being said the pump is easy to replace $25. My $600 pump in not every going in the shower.. I don't want to kill that bad boy!

rolleyes  Welcome to the forum:I returned the overpriced OSBORN and bought the ENCORE,I can buy like five of those to one osborn and they work just as good,lubricant is key for them towork right,along as others have said to trim hair to get a good seal against the body,the Encore has an eaiser system to release the band onto the shaft before it deflates.If you have a battery operated one, water should not get into it,actually the manual will stop working also,they don't like water,the tube doesn't matter,soap and water are good to clean them up.I had good luck with any gel or cream lubricants,it also helps remove the bands. idea  a body shield helps to prevent the vac from sucking up sac and scrotum,which hurts if it happens.This forum has helped alot guiding me thru this process,the vac takes practice and effort  to get it right.I have gone to trimix but use the pump before the shot to get more to shoot into,it is much easier and works better for me,it has been 6 months since RALP,so nothing is happening without these tools.The osborn bands do work the best but they are proud of them too,like 18 to 25$ each .keep it up and don't give up! turn gamms

Shaving cream works for me. I leave a can in the shower and shave while I'm "waiting".

Now. if only someone could tell me how to remove the rust stains from the soap shelf.

OXYCLEAN removes rust most of the time plus elbow grease!

I know this thread is aging but I'm hoping you're still visting it.

I have the problem with a pump that would require the "body shield' you mentioned.

Could you give me more information on what it is and where I can find one?

The body sheild is like a thin piece if plastic,about 5" dia with a 2" hole in the center.It helps prevent the vacuum from pulling your nut in the tube smhair Tell me more about the issues.It came with the Encore pump.I'm finding the combination of Viagra and the pump help.Also it may take two rings after you get the first one on,by keeping testicle out of the way the second one seems to hold.

Happy to help smurf I'm getting good results with the shots using the pump to get more to inject.I am trying a new quadmix from UROS office for free.i haven't paid yet he keeps giving me free samples a month at a time .I am so greatfull.It would be nice not to need any help,hopefully waiting for something to happen on it's own! Worried Guy: Jeff, use a condom on the bottom of your shaving cream can. A piece of thick plastic wrap and a rubber band over the bottom of the can will do nicely to keep the metal from rusting onto the shelf. Works for me.

Shaving cream worked good for the shower one...I usually use K-Y with my Encore. A bit more money, but...works well.

I always have used liquid soap as a lubricant while pumping with my Osbon Erecaid. If you are careful, you shouldn't allow the soap to come into contact with the pump. I use the soap as a lubricant for **********. But the soap must not be on the penis when having intercourse with your partner as the soap may sting the vagina. So after you have achieved your erection and are ready to go, use a hand held shower to wash off all the soap and then use KY or another water based lubricant for penetration. The company wants you to always use their lubricant because that's how they make their money. Liquid soap is much cheaper.
