I would like to thank everyone here for all the information provided and support.
I had some interesting news this past Friday. Because of advice from here I had my slides sent to John Hopkins for a 2nd opinion and the came back a Gleason 6! (I was given a Gleason 7(3+4) initially). My Dr here was happy to give me this news and let me know in his opinion AS would be a great option at this point. In the meantime, I kept my appointment for a 2nd opinion with a Dr in New Orleans who was recommended to me. His take was that given my age (50) that surgery would be the best route so I could just nip this in the bud. His reasoning was because I am in very good health (thank God) that I would do very well with surgery (he has done well over 1000 of robotic). He also reasoned to do it now with great recovery than wait when it could be worse. He did agree that AS was not unreasonable. I am inclined to go with AS. I kind of feel like a yoyo at this point, but am extremely thankful I was downgraded so to speak. I had pretty much made up my mind for surgery prior to this new development.
Interesting that I am getting two different opinions from these two Drs.
