Long awaited PSA test next Monday

I thought all this time that my next PSA test was on 12-22.  Glad my uro's office called today, and told me I had the PSA test and a visit with the uro on Monday at 3:30.  I would have missed it.

This will be a full six months since my last one, when my post-SRT PSA shot up to 5.8.

Anyone is welcomed to place a bet, to see where the number will be next week.  There's enough data in my stats to make your own prediction.

I am expecting it to be in the 12.x to 15.x range.  My uro is confident it will be way above 10.x.

With these situations, one really never knows what to expect.  There's no reason for me to think it went down, I feel it's a question of how high, and if the rate of acceleration has picked up any from last time.

We shall see.

boger, surely you jest? why would i be happy with the results? it will be whatever it will be, doesn't matter what i think about it one way or the other. with a quickly failed surgery and a disasterous srt adventure, don't have a whole lot to look forward to.

David: Will be thinking about you and can always pray that with some stroke of luck it did not jump. If it did then get a plan for the future. Take care buddy.. Don't let the test keep you from enjoying the next few days. Albert Ellis said it best. What you have no control over has no merit of worry.

Drew blood today, results next week. Had the HT conversation with my uro. Prospects are, well, not rosy.

No cheap wine this weekend.

Wouldn't it be great if we all just leveled out -

But in the meantime, planning for GFMPH Spring 2012.

jeff - there is honestly no worry in my voice, i was so unconcerned the past 6 months, i didnt even know the right date. my wife just tonight, suggested not to have any more PSA tests at all, she doesn't see the point, at this point in my journey. she honestly thinks guys are nuts that have them done every month, she sees it as a lot of worry for nothing (but then she doesn't have PC or any other cancer).

142 - good luck to you, we are in similar straights for sure, and each has to make tough choices ahead. i don't anyone with bcr has an easy path or easy choices.

David my prayers are always with you as you are such an inspiration to so many of us in the club. You are right about not worrying what the number will be as it is what it is. Now get positive and start working on the Western South Carolina GFMPH in 2013.

i can still say, there has been zero anxiety the past 6 months while waiting for this, and even though i have to wait the weekend before the test, doesn't bother me at all.

i resolved this entire PSA anxiety thing a long time ago. it's just a question of mental acceptence to me. worry and fear won't change a single thing. i have fully accepted my situation, and nature will run its course regardless of whether I let it bother me or not.

As one who also has a rising PSA, I have applied my back-of-the-envelope methods to your numbers. You had a fivefold increase in four months. Assuming that rate continues, but slowing down slightly, a fivefold increase over 6 months gives a latest PSA of 30.

There's no way to put a positive spin on that, and I hope its wrong. Let's just hope that some miracle has happened and your PSA has stabilized. All the best.
