Well, it got underway today and pretty much as I expected. Except,

They said that first treatment will take a bit longer as a few images were required to begin with. If they were happy with them then treatment would start straight after.
Just as it seemed to be coming to the end, the Radiographer came in to the room and said the computer had gone down just before treatment had finished, and had to wait for the specialist to have it re-booted.
So I had to lay completely still for what seemed ages, it was actually about 10 minutes.

They came back in to check I was still lined up and not moved, I hadn't. Then after less than a minute it was all over.

On to tomorrow! :-)

good luck, chris, as you continue your treatments. hope you get through them without many if any, side effects, and hope that the radiation does the job for you.

Noticed today lots of notices pinned up saying, "Please accept our apologies as we get used to the new computer system, in order to provide our patients with a better service."

Suppose it's called progress eh?

thanks for asking. on the actual cancer front, nothing we are doing right now, but waiting and watching. my oncologist doesn't believe in any specific number to advise to start HT, even though my psa jumped to 14 recently. as far as the pain goes, the source of the pain has been increasing over the past couple of months, but my doctor stays on top of things with me, constantly checking by phone/e-mail to see if any adjustments need to be made. when i see him early in january, we may need to bump up the morphine patch another notch, as there are times that despite all the meds, the pain can be intense a couple of days a week or so.

I really hope you get some respite over the holiday period.

I'm impressed with your Doctor, he sounds like he's one of the good guys and looks after you well!

Thats funny and a coincidence. After my first treatment I got a call the next day not to show up. All the computers were down and they did not know why. Seems that for some reason the main frame stopped communicating with the radiation units, so they could not download each person treatment program.
