I tend to disagree. I can't say I've seen anyone dying because they chose AS.....that would obviously take a number of years to happen. But, as in Dick1's case, I've certainly seen a number of guys who could have had their cancer removed earlier and in all likelihood avoided having to deal with the angst and potential spread of the cancer which occurred because they chose to opt for AS.
I certainly understand that AS is a legitimate course of action for us older guys. Heck, I'm likely to die in the next 10 years from one thing or another anyway. But I would have serious reservations about
advising my 40 year old son to do it.
I also would ask, is anyone's insurance likely to pay for all those additional biopsies, doppler imaging and other tests that may improve the odds a bit?
