Prostate cancer - E.D. problems

Hi guys,

Since a little time as I posted ,I have experienced the 1st spontaneous erection. The same things happens during the night and early morning. The only problem I have noticed is that despite the urines coming out I feel pain inside the base of the penis as if the muscles tear up a numbing. I contacted my doctor and he informed me that since I was very lucky being subjected to a nerves sparing operation, the physical restoration of the whole system will be realized within a period of max. 3 years not after the operation but after the date stopping the hormone blocking therapy.Of course he advised me to continue taking the Cialis 5mg for keeping the blood circulation in the area. He also advised me to avoid using a pump in order to avoid damaging the very thin blood vessels which are newly created after the operation inside the penis body.

P.S Acc. to the doctor the hormone blocking therapy creates decrease of testosterone and libido.

I would like to receive your comments on this because sometimes- I do not know if it I am right- I lose my trust to the doctor's sayings.

I am on the 5mg daily Cialis (have been since 3 months after surgery). I am told to continue them so long as I want to have hope of recovery (I have been taking them about two years now). My uro/surgeon agreed to the pump at about 4 months after surgery.

Hormone therapy, if it works right, should lower your testosterone to almost zero, and that will likely eliminate your libido as a side effect.

I am now 7 months post surgery and was very lucky as I have been dry since week 4 after surgery. My ED had been 100% and both Cialis and Viagra had little to no effects. I found doing injections with Trimix to be painless and satisfying for getting a good 90%+ erections. I have also achieved many dry orgasms while having sex with my wife with no urine expelled which I attribute to my being dry for so long. I had given up pretty much the idea of having natural erections until the last couple of weeks when I started having nocturnal dreams of sex and waking with some natural erections of maybe 40%. My URO told me that this is a sign that my nerves are staring to heal from the surgery trauma. Per my URO early instructions I do daily self stimulation and in the last week or so I am also achieving some slight erections.  I guess my point is do not give up hope as I almost did as the ED may improve with time.

No, not specifically like you describe. We all get a variety of aches, quirks and dysfunctions that seem individual to our own case. I have slow urine flow from catheter abrasion.

Time is on your side for healing, good to hear your ED is improving, keep the rehab process going. It can be remarkably effective if you are patient and persistent.

Starting May 11 till Aug 11, I followed a new therapy for ED treatment/therapy (newly applied here in Greece) OMNISPEC.
At the same time I also started taking Cialis 5 mg each day which I keep on taking them. One effect of the omnispec therapy is that new thin blood vessels are being created inside the penis body. Acc. to my ED specialist these are the vessels I have to protect from bursting up because of increased blood flow ( an aftermath of the vac. pump use). I have to be patient , I know, but till when my friend? All started in May 2010 and continue till nowadays.
I want me sex life back.

I developed ED Post-Prostatectomy (ORT) in February 2004.

I was 65 and had never had an ED problem before surgery.

Viagra, Cialis, etc. and other "non-invasive" ED Treatment Modalities did not work for me.

I attended several Seminars on the Coloplast Titan Penile Implant and thoroughly researched the subject.

Then, after having the opportunity to speak with 2 men who had undergone the Titan Penile Implant Procedure, I got my Titan Implant

in December 2007.

I was blessed in that the Implant completely corrected my ED and

restored my sex life and the emotional intimacy with my wife of

45 years. I had  suffered with ED and all its devastating

side-effects for over 3 years at that time.

I will always be greatful to the above 2 men for sharing their experiences and giving me the courage to move forward.

I share this to show that a healthy sex life is definitely possible

Don't make the mistake to always remind you to be patient. Just be patient. Forget the past and conquer the future.This is a personal fight and not the doctors'.
Although mine seems that has done a good work-and thank him for this- he is not very supportive to the psychological matter of the situation.I believe that if doctors listened carefully what the patients said about their life experiences after RP and advised the new patients about the RP follow-up, things would be easier for us.
The fight with the problems we face is personal.
