Well, today was the big day, getting that dang catheter removed. Overall, the experience of the robot surgery and having the catheter would best be described by me as "uncomfortable". No great pain to speak of, just a general discomfort.
I now feel like a new man. I got by my first hurdle, witch for me as to have both nerves spared. My next hurdle was to make it through an uneventful week with the catheter. The next obstacle was my pathology report:
Final Diagnosis:
1. Prostatic adenocarcinoma, Gleason grade 3+3=6, involving both, at least 1.5cm and occupying 10% of the prostate by volume.
2. No lymphatic/vascular invasion is present.
3 Perineural invasio is present.
4. The seminal vesicles and extraprostatic soft tissue are free of tumor.
5. The inked margins are free of tumor.
6. Phlebolith (1.9 cm)
Diagnosis Comment:
1. AJCC pT2c NX
2. Gleason pattern 4 is focally present but comprises less than 5% of tumor.
According to the Dr., this is as good as I can get. I was sent home with a pull-up depends and seem to be pretty dry. Hopefully it stays this way, but I am expecting that it probably won't.
So 2 hurdles to go. One is incontinence and the other is ED. My doc said to wait another few weeks before I give that a test ride (fingers crossed).
Has anyone been completely dry from day 1 of cath removal only to experience leaking a week or so later?
Thanks for all the support during this challenging time.
Peter
