Testosterone Treatment - Follow-up

I had my two month follow-up since I started on Testosterone gel. My “T” number climbed from 275 to 429.

He also did a “CBC with Differential/Platelet blood work. The report shows about 20 different items and apparently I’m good on all of them.

Poor Doc... When he first came in the room, he asked me how I was doing… In a real high pitch girly voice I said: “Other then my voice has changed – I’m doing fine.” We both laughed...

Come to find out, the gel I’m applying is supposed to be 2 pumps once a day. I’ve been doing 1 pump twice a day. For grins – he wants me to stop taking it for two weeks. I can’t say that I had much in the way of symptoms prior to starting… So by stopping for a couple of weeks and then starting back up I’ll have a better idea if there is more “pep in my step.”

And he confirmed I do have a real small hernia on the right side. We ain’t gonna touch it unless it gets worse.

Steve, did your insurance cover the T therapy? I am almost 18 months post RRP suffering from low T my number is 275 also...My uro told me he wouldnt start me on it till I am "further" past the "cancer" scare...once he feels there is no cancer for the "T" to stimulate he will consider it..I am satisfied I am past the cancer and want to get my "normal" life back! but I know it is expensive and not sure if insurance will cover

Thanks Ralph - two months ago when I started using the Gel it was my 3½ year mark post surgery. All PSA's have been undetectable. I'll be going back to having my PSA tested every six months instead of 12.

The jury is still out if I'll continue the treatment. As I mentioned, I don't "think" I have/had any symtons related to low T numbers. It's been more on the "give it a try" and see what happens type thing. My surgeon is overly cautious about not making my situation worse so he'll be monitoring me.
