Newporter, or anyone else,
Can someone explain to me what "benign prostate glands" means? (what it is, how it relates to cancer, and PSA).
I haven't looked at this thread in a couple of weeks, my apologies for the delayed response.
I next will have an appt with a Rad/Onc, to discuss things, and plan for future treatments.
I ask again about
the "benign prostate glands" because the Nurse in the office (who works closely with the surgeon, who removed my prostate) mentioned that same term.
When i hear the term, I hate to admit it, but it does nothing for me. What i mean is that it doesn't sound hugely negative or hugely positive. I am just confused.
OK, "cancer cells growing in the Prostate" - that yelled out loud and clear. Growing, getting worse. Let's get rid of them. So they operated, and the Prostate is gone.
Now, with "benign prostate glands" and "PSA" ? Is that bad? Is it positive? Is it a form of cancer? Is it not cancer at all? Can you leave it alone? Must it be treated. I just don't understand "what" it is, and what it should mean to me.
Thanks!
