I have a question about ED meds

Well I'm 5 1/2 weeks since RALP and my first attempt tonight at sex was a flop, pun intended. I took 20mg of levitra and nothing happened when we tried an hour later. I took it on an empty stomach with no alcohol. I finally ate dinner when we completed what we could. I have a few samples of 100 mg viagra and 30 pills of 5mg cialis. Have any of you found that one brand worked when another didn't or are they all about the same?

On the incontinence front, I do seem to be doing better. I can retain some urine while working around the home, walking and standing. Before any activity would eventually have my bladder drained completely empty. It was certainly different tonight not being able to be mobile while attempting sex, but that will change once the dribbles stop.

Relax, it’s early yet. You might want to work on Willie solo sometimes. If you are anxious or worried about “performing” for your wife - you’re generating adrenaline. And adrenaline is a very potent anti-erection chemical. I found in the first month or so, that I had better results, or longer lasting results, when flying solo. This boosted my confidence, which reduced the anxiety, which lead to better results together.

Remember it’s the erections, no matter how you get them, that bring the fresh blood to rehabilitate the erectile tissue.

I can’t comment on the other pills; my only experience is with Viagra and Trimix.

You are still at a very early stage of your recovery and the ED will need both time and therapy to improve. Does your URO have or offer any ED or penile blood flow therapy or consulting? Does he have a ED specialist on staff?  I think anyone facing PC surgery needs to look for a surgeon or URO who has this service as part of their practice.

I was lucky as my URO was also his practice's ED specialist. Three weeks after my surgery my URO started me on daily 5mg Cialis for 30 days to provide blood flow to the penis and as he said if it produced any erection good enough for sex that was a bonus. I was also told to self stimulate myself a minimum of 3 times a week. After 30 days of Cialis and back aches as a side effect and 0% wood I started on Trimix injections and Viagra in between injections. The injections work and now after 8 months I am getting 50% erections with 100mg of Viagra and maybe 20% with no drug or injections. This is improvement that is getting better as time progresses and my hope is that by 12 months post surgery I can stop injections and get 90% erections with just the Viagra.  There are some who have posted on this forum who say it took 2 years to get back natural erections so time is you friend not the enemy.

I'm only 2 weeks post surgery so not speaking from experience, just what I've read in Mulhall's book and what my suregon does for ED therapy. He uses the core of Mulhall's protocol. Started me on 5mg Cialias 3 days after catheter removal. No sex or even playing for 4 weeks to allow healing. At the 4 week mark start using the VED daily, plus boost the Cialis to a full dose once per week and see if there is any response. This is all for bloodflow. He made it clear there is no expectation of erections, that is months away and I should not be discouraged by it. Yeah, right, we are all discouraged. We want results now. Remember, Mulhall states that our nerve response is actually going DOWN in the first few months and the low is at 4 months or so. The key it seems is to keep that bloodflow going. Using the VED, trimix, and the oral meds to keep the tissue happy until the nerves recover and can start working.

I have no idea what my local Uro will do for rehab. He is not a believer in it, though said he'd gladly write the prescriptions if I want them. I'm in Colorado and my surgury was in Florida. So I'll keep working with the surgeon's office on the rehab protocol if local is not into it. Though for trimix it's going to need to be local. If my local Uro is not supportive of does not have experience in ED rehab, I'll find another Uro.

I'd suggest you find a Uro that is willing to work with you on a rehab program so you don't have to go it alone, trying to figure out what is best.

mstrpilot: I read Mulhall's book and even took it to my first post op appointment. My Uro does everything in Mulhall's book but on a slower time table. According to Mulhall, degradation of the smooth muscle tissue starts after six months with no erections. My uro will start me on injections at three months so it is well within Mulhall's time table. I started low dose lavitra four weeks post op based upon Mulhall's advice despite my Uro's opinion. Last night I started our first night of full dose ED meds and will take the low dose cialis this morning. I was just wondering if anyone has had better luck with viagra vs lavitra? I was thinking about popping a full dose of viagra tonight but I've decided to go with 5 mg of cialis instead. I'll try a full dose of viagra in two weeks and see what heppens.

Congradulations ICECAT: Glad to see you getting a good response/erection. I notice that you are taking low dose cialis too. Just be careful with mixing the two.

I'm staying on the low daily dose of cialis and swapping out for full doses between the big three once every month or so hoping for a reaction from willy.
