trimix not doing the job

folks

I am new to this type of stuff, I was Diagnosed with prostate cancer in july 2010
had cryosurgery in may 2011 then had bladder surgery in june 2011,was given trimix when all others didnot work,( muse Viagra, pump)took TM with no results, took 10 units once then 20 units then 10 unit again. was confused by the surging
which read units by medicine said cc's. prescription filled 12/13/2011
nothing works label says PAP/PHEN/PGE130/0.5MG/25MCG/ML INJ. needle is 3/10 ml/cc 5/16 31G use according to the instructions, did not have doctors help. please
let me know what i am doing wrong, have Viagra, and a pump. I know it takes time
but need to know from the people who know. thank you

Wow an interesting post. Most Dr have you come int for an instruction lesson on how to do the injections. Lots of guys here do injections including myself. I will try to find the sticky on the post of how to do the injections. I also recommend that you go to Franktalk.org. That site deals specifically with ED and treatments. There is a video on injections that just might help you out.

I can tell you that injections have made me the man I used to be before PCa.

As a new member, you must undergo the traditional Welcome to the site no one wants to need to visit. So, Welcome.

Now, as to the prescription - here is how I decrypt your post:

label says

PAP/PHEN/PGE1

30/0.5MG/25MCG/ML

needle is 3/10 ml/cc 5/16 31G

use according to the instructions, did not have doctors help.

Wow. My surgeon forbade me to open the bag. I had to bring it to him for my first "experiment".

My Rx is Pap 30, Phen 0.5,PGE 10Mcg/ml

The needle is not very relevant, except that the doc is apparently very pain-adverse, as 31g is really thin (bigger number, smaller needle). Some would say too delicate. My needle size is 27g on the syringe (to fill from the vial) then change to a 30g (thinner) for the injection. Too complicated for me, but I comply.

What I question is the PGE130 - is it PGE1 30, or PGE130? Mine is PGE 10. If if is PGE 130 as opposed to PGE1 / 30, it is a whole different Rx.

Regardless of the difference, the uro, or at least an assistant, should take you through the "first time".

Hello and welcome. Sorry you need to join our brotherhood, but you are most welcomed.

Having never used injections, can't help you at all. I agree, our member Cajun Jeff (above) is a pretty good expert
on the subject at hand.

Hope you get the help you need, and some improvements on that front.

Yeah you guessed right with PGE1 (for ProstaGlandinE-1 )
BUT the '30' part is 30mg for the PAP. Just a crazy funny way they lined up the ingredient names first and then the amounts. (and then ran the names and numbers together -- a perfect storm of confusion -- our medical community hard a work!). .

That prescription strength should be pretty strong. But everyone needs different inject amounts. Yeah, Wow, you must have a laid back doc, letting you go off on your own with a see-you-later-and-good-luck.

Or maybe he just did not make it clear he wanted you to come back with the stuff for a test session??

I'll have to admit I was tempted to try it by my self first when I got the bottle, but of course he would have seen that the seal was broken. ( I would have done a better job picking my own amount tho ... 10 u .. he picked 30u and that was a boner for the ages, but did start going down by 4 hours with lots of encouragement.

So even if you don't know what you are doing you at least started in a safe 10-20u range.
Give your doc a call and see if he'll make sure you are sticking it in right .. then good things may happen.

You are keeping your Trimix refrigerated right? It has to be kept cold or it will loose its effectiveness. We’re all different, but I would think that at 20 units you would get some response; so you should probably talk to your doctor about it. Be careful about increasing the dose too much, you don’t want a trip to the ER. I always had to check with the doc before upping my dose.

Here are the injection instructions I was given:
The injection site is the shaft of the penis just past the mid-point between the head and your body, at the 2 o’clock or 10 o’clock positions when viewing in cross section. Always change sides each time you inject. Avoid any vein you can see.
Hold penis by the head and pull straight out.
Wipe injection site with alcohol wipe.
Pick up syringe like a pen or a dart
Again hold penis by the head and pull straight out, keeping tension while you inject.
Touch the needle to the skin, then push the needle all the way in, push the plunger, and pull the needle straight out.
Holding the alcohol wipe at the injection site, squeeze the penis between thumb on one side of the shaft and forefinger on the other side for 3 to 5 minutes.
Then with some stimulation you’re should be ready to go in 5 to 10 minutes.

Hope you get this all worked out.

Stuff hasn't done me any good. I had to go to a "show me how" to do it with a male nurse (Twice) before they would even consider the stuff for me.

Hey folks

Thanks for all the kindness, and information i have a habit of getting down on myself, but when i seen this trimix didn't work I flipped. I keep the trimix in the refrig and i follow all the directions. i was injecting at 9&3 I will try 2&10 and see what happens. Maybe i am to inpatient and in hurry i do read all the post here and on other forums. I wanted to hear from the experts of never giving up. I was in the military my doc is a VA doc he did tell me that i would never have an erection again without help thanks folks for giving me hope.

 Thank you guys, but I just thought of something, I am still having trouble with leakage can that be the problem. My last proceedure was in may 2011.

leakage how? incontinent with urine or veinous leak in the penis? If incontinence, then I'd say there's little or no cause and effect from that.

If veinous leakage of the blood out of the penis, then that's right, that's what could be happening and maybe a big reason why you aren't getting results. IF that is the case, then the pump and ring technique is for you, as it will hold the drug in long enough to absorb. In fact, the veinous flow out of the penis, caused by the valves to working right is the root cause of why we have impotence in this particular situation. If the blood containing the drug escapes out before it can be absorbed, then the injection will be ineffective.

No i have no blood leakage just urine, but this has been going on since June 2011. can this be stopped and if so is am i look at more surgery.
