I didn't have the nerves spared in my surgery. My doctor recommended that before hand and I agreed so I knew what I was getting into ahead of time.
I started on injections this past summer. I couldn't tolerate the trimix, so I'm on bimix. I haven't used it nearly as much as I expected, it still aches some and I get cramps after an orgasm (in deep around where the prostate would have been) when I use it so it hasn't been entirely sucessful. Around Christmas I started feeling vague signs of life and in the last couple of weeks I've started to have success with Viagra. Nothing like the old days, but it beats the hell out of sticking myself with a needle and I'm getting about the same result.
One bonus is my wife has had a renewed "enthusiasm" for sex that I haven't seen since before we had kids. For Valentines Day she got us a box of goodies from a sex shop using one of those online coupon deals. This is an area we've never explored and we're like a couple of teenagers with the stuff.
Today we had an impromtu romp at lunch time and I didn't have time to take a viagra ahead of time, yet I was still able to get enough of an erection for sex. With the nerves gone, this is something I just never expected. Don't want to sound like I'm bragging, but you guys are the only ones I can talk to about this. It's doing wonders for my depression as well.
