I finished 39 readiation treatments about 7 weeks ago.  The one negative I am experiencing is evident weakening of urethrea tissue, since I am leaking more than the normal 2-3 drops per day.  Has anyone with Artificial Urinary Device and who has had treatments experienced similar?

Have not had PSA yet after radiation.  It's still a couple of months away before that test, which will indicate how effective the treatments were.  Thanks,

Can't answer your question. But I wish you the best on that first post-SRT PSA reading, glad you got that behind you now.

Thanks.  Not many guys have AUS installed (nor IPP).  I waited for 18 months before doing so & never got control of bladder or erection.  Both devices have served me well but disappointed about the increased leaking, although, unless it gets much, much worse, is still so much better.

Did you have totally organ confined (3+3)?  Did you not have anything in your post-op pathology to explain your BCR?  I was just wondering.

I am keeping stats. on all the OC G6 people here and tracking results.  So far I have only found one guy that had BCR who was OC G6.  Everyone else seemed to have some sort of other contributing factor.  I believe I read on some post your biopsys score was 3+4, but you were down graded after surgery, correct? 

Also, who did your surgery?

Sorry for prying, hope you don't mind.....

BTW:  I've only seen one OC G6 have BCR after surgery and his salvage SRT has been sucessfull for 3 years now.  I have a total of 41 guys in my database.  35 were OC G6 and 6 were not OC.  Only one of the 6 salvage SRT has failed, but he had nerve bundle involvment so I consider that and adverse pathological feature and not OC.

Yes... Gleason 6, but was first a 7.  I don't feel comfortable in naming my surgeon but my feelings toward him were not good from day one.  If you can get me your email address, I'll send his name to you.  Gene214

Gene, what is happening to you is one of my concerns too. Right how my psa is holding and things look good but........ I wonder if locking the AUS open during RT and after for a few months might stop or minimize thinning of the uretha , if that is what is happening? Possibly as a worse case scenairo ,after things are well healed you might need the cuff tighter or up the resevoir pressure? Anyway, I think that the leaking can be stopped if it doesn't clear up by itself. Sorry to hear about this, I know how I would feel if my AUS started to leak.

Since you just stopped treatment, you might just have to wait a while and see if the leakage slows down as you heal. I leak a lot more than thre -four drops a day but it is so much better than what I had before.

One of the possible problems we may face is eroding of the uretha tissue around the cuff. The first doctor nicked me there and we had to let it heal. I alway wonder if that area will cause me problems down the road?

Thanks guys.  All good points.  Knotreet.  Excellent suggestion.  When I get to go back to my Uro for psa, I'll suggest that he suggests this to guys who are getting ready for radiation treatment.  ... not that he will do it, but I'll pass it on to him anyway.

Actually, it seems that my leaking is still getting worse, after nearly 8 weeks post treatments.  Gene214
