I received it via email as a Google News alert.

I mean, dont people take this disease seriously?

IONIA, Mich. —

Rodger Moore, 71, of Ionia, said he was led by God to find a home remedy that twice cured him of aggressive prostate cancer.

He said he was diagnosed with the disease a year and a half ago by his physician, and traveled to Ann Arbor to see a cancer specialist.

After undergoing a CT Scan, bone scan and ultrasound, the specialist recommended he either have surgery or radiation treatments. His Gleason Score, which is a method of prostate cancer tissue grading, was at level nine.

Moore said God shut the doors to both options and led him to the Internet, where he found a remedy.

He said the recipe told him to warm one cup of water on low heat, dissolve one tablespoon of baking soda and add one tablespoon of blackstrap molasses. Drink the concoction twice per day on an empty stomach.

Moore said to also purchase pH test strips to test urine and bring the body’s pH level to 8.0, and keep that level for about one week.

Symptoms may include diarrhea, Moore added.

He said the remedy has worked for him twice, and believes it may work for others suffering from the disease. His doctors have been surprised by the outcome, he added.

“I’m so blessed that the Lord led me. The Lord has given me my life back,” said Moore.

There's CLEARY something wrong there. This wasnt a story where the writer quotes the doctors, nor even mentions them by name.. in a story about being cured from prostate cancer, twice.

It would almost be funny if it weren't dangerous to those yet to make treatment choices who may trust this garbage.

And for a major media company to produce it is astounding to me. Really really surprised at them. I enjoy their papers.

-one interesting sidebar - has anyone been tested for Candida? - one of the comments linked it to the feeding source for cancer - instead of being a virus based organism, they are viewing it as a fungal based entity?

-second sidebar - one article ( I think back in 2007)- had as a cancer-trigger ( like Candida is supposedly) were STD's- anything that would be an "external-introduced" element to affect the prostate ..... so, anyone who has been treated for 'thrush' or 'the clap" is prone to prostate cancer? ....

-another round of snake oil salesmen?-

The choice is yours, but I wouldn't spend too much time worrying about mis-information. You'll find yourself spending an excessive/obsessive amount of time frustrated over something you have no control over, and missing out on the beautiful things in life.

Mis-information is everywhere. Even here at HW. A couple examples: One poster wrote that his oncologist "worried" and "felt strongly" about dietary supplements masking PSA, when in fact there is no scientific evidence (and no scientific basis) for this. Mis-informed? For sure. Another example was a poster (actually, the same one) who said that his doctors said that "dietary changes are like worrying about the horse after it's out of the barn." Well, I guess that's true if you already have one foot in the grave, but where's the spirit of HW support for others in making that statement when the solid evidence is, and the first recommendation of most doctors is, to make immediate lifestyle changes (diet, exercise) after a PC diagnosis "wake-up call" in order to extend life and quality of life.

As I've said here many times before, you just gotta use reliable sources...not just any source.

Bob, fair enough. But was this published in a newspaper which is chartered to report news AND stories which capture human interest, or a journal which would be held to an expectation of validation and peer review? I agree that the story is goofy, but I'm just sayin'...

A very fine example of crass stupidity cloaked, guided and endorsed by by religious belief. Not so very different from what others have posted here.
