NY1971: Good decision about getting the biopsy....Try to forget about all of the "numbers" for now.  Tomorrow, after the procedure, your doctor may give you additional information regarding the size of the prostate and whether it was "smooth" as seen during the ultarasound guidance. I know that waiting for the results is difficult and we have all been there. I found that doing various chores around the house and paperwork (that I put off for years) made the wait more bearable since my mind was off of my prostate and the days just flew by. You say that you have convinced yourself of the worst..so it can only get better! But you will make it thru this. Good luck with the procedure and try to relax.  Remember, you still may not have cancer and it is irrational to take it to the next level and assume that if you do; that it is the worst case.!

Good Luck, Make sure u drink alot of water afterwords!!!!

Helped me out a great deal in clearing out the blood clots....

My urologist just called, he got my biopsy result early. He said I only have inflammation. My high PSA of 12.7 is not due to Pca.

I am so happy and relieved when I hear the news. However, I am also angry that I had to go through the agony of biopsy and to suffer through the anxiety of unknown needlessly. This past month has changed my perspective in life and how I deal with my family/friends. I felt so vulnerable and scared. My urologist suggests I do nothing and come back in 6 months to be tested again. Apparently, there is no need to find out why my prostate is inflamed. W T F.

PSA test really sucks! We need a better diagnostic test for Pca! I wish my primary doctor did not test me in the first place without my consent.

I guess I won't be hanging around this forum too often....hopefully for a long time or never. I have a new empathy for people who actually have Pca and other cancers. I wish everyone here and your family good luck.

NY 1971:  Well that is great news!  I know that you must feel great, but don't let the anger of having gone thru this ordeal make you "sour" on PSA testing. Follow you doctor's advice and do indeed have another test in 6 months as he recommends.

Sorry, this may not be your last biopsy. No man over 40 is ever "free" of the PCa worry and sorry to say, you still have an elevated number (that appears to be due to inlamation). These tests, although far from perfect, can save your life!  Take the

six months to enjoy life. Try to keep from worrying and congratulaions again.

Great News: but please do not get complacent. There are many folks here who had an initial negative biopsy and then their psa continued to rise, they got re-biopsied and later found they have PC. Please stay vigilant.

It might be a good idea to get the free PSA and PCA3 test at some point so you have a baseline. That might let you avoid/defer further biopsy.
