Good health before the surgery.
PSA 2008: 1.6; PSA: 2/2010: 2.2; PSA:8/2010: 3
Biopsy: Oct. 2010: Gleason: 3+4, Both sides.
Surgery: RAP 12/2/2010 Johns Hopkins, Baltimore, MD
Good pathology - no margins - all encapsulated - Gleason 4 + 3 = 7
Catheter out Dec 14, 2010 - inmediately continent. Not pads nor diapers but I'm still at home with inmediate access to a restroom. Sometimes I need to go very often.
Notice that Doctor was optimistic about my urinary control since surgery day.
On Dec 20, 2010: Disconfort when I pee,
abdominal pain never stopped.
I walk a few blocks every morning. 35' at very, very slow path. After that I feel exhausted and tire for the whole day.

40 years old - Diagnosed at 40
Robotic Surgery Mount Sinai with Dr. Samadi Jan, 2011
complete urinary control and good erections with and without meds
Prostate was small, 34 grams.
Final Gleason score 7 (3+4)
Less than 5% of slides involved tumor
Tumor measured 5 mm in greatest dimension and was located in the right lobe near the apex.
Tumor was confined to prostate.
The apical, basal, pseudocapsular and soft tissue resection margins were free of tumor.
Seminal vesicles were free of tumor.
Right pelvic node - benign fibroadiopse tissue. no lymph node is identified.
Left pelvic node - one small lymph node, negative for tumor (0/1)

AJCC stage: pT2 NO MX

Thank you for all the invaluable support. Here is my signature.

As of 09/05/2011:
Age 70 healthy
PSA 1.2 (prior two years were 1/09=1.3, 4/10=1.19). In other words, no change
DRE= Dr felt a nodule and did biopsy
10 out of 12 cores were benign
One core left side base Gleason 3+3 (5%)
One core left side lateral base Gleason 3+4 (50%)
Partin Score 82+14+2+2
Did not get staging
Prostate enlarged to 57grams (suffered from this for years and using Flomax)

If anyone has stats close to my husband's please email me. I have listed my email address on my profile. I have tried to keep up with who is close, but with all the treatment confusion, I have forgotten. Thanks! :)

My husbands info:

Husband DX 49 yr old - T4,N1,M1
2006 - PSA 4.6 (Dr. never mentioned this result!)
2009 - Wellness Exam, but no bloodwork was drawn to determine PSA. :(
07/11 - PSA 57.0-DRE "Normal" (as per ^ doctor)
07/11 - BX -7 of 11 cores positive-80% overall-4+3-7
8/4 - BS Clear - DRE abnormal -as per MDA
8/4 - MD Anderson - Uprgraded to Gleason 8
8/11 - LN & SV positive, & Bladder base and nerve bundles involved.
8/12 - Degarelix injection & began Casodex
8/25 - PSA 12.
9/8/11 -1st Lupron - PSA 2.1

Chemo was strongly suggested in a couple of consultations but has since been pulled off the table, with Lupron and Casodex to continue for the next 4 months. In January, 2012 they will re-image, re-submit to the multi-disciplinary committee and hope to come to a treament consensus at that time. Last committee failed to come to a consensus.

Hoping for the best. Procedure in about 2 mos will be the nerve-sparing da Vinci RALRP. Ultrasound indicates the tumor is on the exterior of the prostate, so I'm crossing my fingers for clean margins and no involvement of other tissues (obviously esp lymph). All the best for the holidays and 2012.
