Well I am here at last, my name is Ian and Kathy has been telling me to get my but moving and sign on. I have seen what you all have been saying to Kathy and I am very grateful for the support you have given her----I know it has not been easy for her to put in all the hours and work she has done. Thank you all.

I was at the man to man yesterday (2nd) and was surprised to find out I was the only one who had a GS10 and also the only one whose PSA did not work---at the time of being told I was a GS10 my PSA was 1.7. After all the treatment was over I was told that I could never have sex again-----at the time that was the last thing on my mind. This was all 2 1/4 years ago. Kathy has been telling me about the ways you have mentioned that can relight the old days and I would love to hear about them. I am seeing my specialist next week and I can then discuss these things with. I asked at the meeting yesterday but was told that as long as I am on "no testosterone" there is nothing I can do.

Over 4 years ago I had RP, two years later RT and a year after that HT. So "willie`has been dealt a series of injustices. I am now off of HT (vacation) and my T levels are starting to climb back up. All the while my T was close to zero, I could still have an orgasm, just the usual desire was not there. Oral drugs did not work for me. I forced myself to focus on recreating an interest in sex again and with the help of TriMix I have almost pre surgery erections now.    T levels can be low and an erection using Tri or Bi can still be achieved. Go for it... and fast. I now wish I had tried it years ago.  Welcome to you both and hope you continue to share your journeys.

Welcome to our little corner of the world, you have quite the wife there with Kathy - very nice lady with a great sense of humor.

I suggest re-read this entire thread. A lot of great information.

When you do go to your specalist I recommend having a typed set of questions - hand him a copy and go over your questions one by one.

Welcome Ian! My testosterone level is very low, due to hormone therapy, and it does not stop me from having fun. I use a pump and/or trimix to get it done. You can too. Good luck.

I have just finished reading all the comments since Kathy joined-fantastic, what a great group of people, I look forward to Sept and to being in touch more often.
I am a little concerned about Trimex-I used to have 3 hr erections normally- This could be devastating!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am a 11 year survivor and have been using the pump for 10 years.   I tried injections, pills etc but just didn't work well.   I noted with injections that when I had orgasm I also urinated which wife didn't appreciate.

The pump works well, does take little getting used to with what ring or rings to use.  Wife enjoys our love making and penetration works well.

It was a big let down going from rather healthy robust sex life and now having to plan little further.  My wife and I both knew it going into the RP.

Good luck, you both have each other and that is what counts.

OK, Since the men are dominating this conversation, I just HAVE to chime in. The responses you have gotten on this thread are the ones that will bring you back time and time again. The knowledge, the understanding and the support you will get from these men and women will be unbelievable. Welcome to the site, both of you.

My husband, Michael, is 40, and is going on Friday for his first Trimix shot...will update everyone after the appt. In my humble opinion!!! I think that men relate sex and their masculinity together, which makes sense, but is not what we (as women) think is what makes the a MAN. The big difference between men and women! But I have found that due to not being able to have an erection when wanted, or only having a dry orgasm, truly affects every other aspect of their lives. The other "stuff" that may have excited them before just doesn't do it anymore. The mental is the hardest part to get past. The physical, well, as you have found out in this forum, there are several different things that you can try to help with that. Getting your man to try them, or getting him to not feel less of a man, that is a whole other story.

Finding this site, being willing to chat with others and get over the embarrassment of talking about such private matters will help considerably. I am thrilled to see that Ian has joined the site and hopefully will openly share....there is so much to learn. At this point, gather as much info as possible, present those things to your URO and then start experimenting. You may find that you end up having more fun with the experimentation alone that it takes some of the pressure and the negative feelings away from the lack of erection or orgasm.

open communication between the 2 of you will help you make it through. Be honest with each other, but in a caring way. Tell each other your needs and desires and then explore how to help each other experience those desires.

Support groups are great, but if you have found one that doesn't seem to work for you, then try to find something else. You are NOT alone in this situation and you need not feel that you are. Knowledge is Power!!!!!

We are still new to this PCa.

Wow, haven't seen those words of feeling in black and white about how a guy feels and from a lady's perspective.

Having read it and being only 9 weeks post Sx, I can already start to relate the "masculinity" factor" and wanting to nip this in the bud early versus later.

Any more advise from you and your hubby's experience would be extremely valuable. Thanks!!

I need to thank everyone for their support and good wishes. God has been very good to me through out my life and his blessings are what I should be concentrating on now. Ian is doing well and is still the ornery man I fell for so many years ago. We have changed but it isn't necessarily for the worst, attitudes just need to be adjusted. After all, I am a farm girl from Ohio...there isn't much I can't do.

Hi Kathy ~  I didn't want you to think I have abandoned you!  It has been a really rough week for Ron as he had an operation on his testicle and there have been some complications.  This has been such a positive thread that I didn't want to chime in with something so negative.  My sweetie is having constant pain.  Poor babe...

I joined this forum in April, 2010 and found a fabulous group to post with on a thread called, "August Surgeries" (2010).  There were seven gals and a few guys who had to cope with the diagnosis of PCa.  There was so much support and love on that thread which went on for pages and pages.  This forum has been such a help to us!

Susan, please let us know how the Trimix plays out.  Is "plays" the right term I want to use?  Wishing you both a good experience! The information given by others may also come in handy down the road for us.   Thank you, guys!  

Ian, how wonderful that you have chimed in here!  Ron has an allergy to computers. smhair   You wouldn't believe how many things I have printed up from here.   He has checked out the information on the pump and on MUSE.  He's a bit scared of the Trimix injections.  Right now he is focusing on getting well.  You might want to check out some of the videos recommended.   I wish you the very best with your appointment next week - please keep us posted!

What a dreary day here, dark and raining. Never entered my mind that you had "abandoned" me, I know each person here has so much to deal with in their personal life. I am so sorry your husband has had complications, hope he will feel much better as quickly as possible.

I am good, have had amazing support, as you know, from both men and women, ladies PC forum, emails, and can not thank everyone enough for their kindness. The amount of information presented over the last few days is staggering, but in a good way. I surf threads daily, and am always humbled by the strength, sheer will power, and love those here have for each other.

Speaking of the ladies forum...remarkable women who have shared so much with me. I have been encouraged to take care of myself, and have an appointment Wednesday after we finish with Ian's doctors, to finally deal with a little problem of my own. If you think about, say a little prayer, please.

I will help Ian navigate this site, he is overwhelmed at the moment. I jump in feet first, while he is methodical. lol

I've seen many times where our sisters are stressing to our newer sisters how important it is to take care of themselves. Both medically and emotionally.

Thank you, too!  We'll just keep praying for all.  I tried to find that Ladies Forum, but didn't have much luck.  It is easy to forget about our health when worrying about others.  Believe me, I know.  Ron and I watch our youngest Grandchildren while Mommy and Daddy work.  They keep us (mostly me) on our toes!  Love it!  I won't even mention my broken toe and abscess tooth. shocked

Indeed there is much strength and support here.  There are several particpants that I follow to see how they are doing.

Yes, this all can be overwhelming!  I really think you should (if possible) go with Ian to the doctor appointment with a pen and notebook!  There may be questions that need to be asked!
