My ex-boss just sent me this article from England about advanced PC, thought it was interesting.  Hope this link works, not good at that part

Sounds like a possible future alternative to Provenge, and the other new treatments for men with advanced (hormone resistant) PC.

My first read, was that they were perhaps talking about Provenge, but on a second read, sounds like something new from the other side of the pond, was that your take?

This is definitely something new, involving genetically engineered virus to stimulate an immune response. It only requires injecting, there is no subsequent separating of the blood elements in the "factory" and injecting them back into patient like for Provenge. Therefore, this SHOULD be cheaper when it becomes available. Hopefully soon.

Prostvac has been going though trials in th usa and was actually put on the fast track at the same time provenge was fda approved. Although it is new to the u.k. as they are a tad more stringent in how they perform their trials it has been going through trials here for aeveral years.The drug proved twice the overall median survival of taxotere and provenge with very few side effects. I am not sure what the hold up is at this time but I will google it when I don't have to read and type on my phone.

that's good to know todd. didn't realize that part. i am convinced, in my heart at least, that perhaps the next generation or two of PC guys, will have much better and more sophisicatd tools to work with. Ultimately, PC might be very curable for many. Death rate is still too high, regardless. Hoping my 2 boys will never deal with it, but if they do, hoping they will have better odds to deal with it.

This is encouraging. They are recruiting for Phase 3 trials in the USA.

I noticed this on a few bulletins here in the UK. But they seemed to be focusing on early stage Prostate Cancer and how there will be fewer side effects.

No lung mets. Leaves me out. I hope the provenge works.
