Latest PSA test - yep another rise - And Update on Lovely Lynn

So when I came back from the NIH in February with a 13.3 PSA my Onco said he wanted to do a 3 month re-test instead of waiting until September when I go to NIH for the last of the scans of the 1 year clinical trial.

He wanted the test because my Sept 2011 PSA was 9.2 and Feb 2012 was 13.3.

Well I went a did the test yesterday and they just called and the PSA is 17.0. Yep, I know it's another rise, but in my world it ain't nothing to panic over yet. My doubling time is still around 10 months and I still have to complete the trail.

I did tell them to have the doc bone up (research) the Feraheme Scan that is being done here in Orlando. I have been re-visiting it after so many of our brothers here have had the scan. You may recall that I looked into it last year before I started the NIH trial. Told them that if the next scan finds nothing I am seriously thinking about doing the Feraheme scan just to find out where the hell it is.

So that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I am still leaving the crap alone as long as it leaves me alone.

Lynn's health has been going down hill and I am just too busy to have cancer, PFFFTTT!

My baby has shrunk some more, down to 5'4" from a starting point of 5'11" and she has had 7 transfusions (total of 15 units) since the 2nd week of December. More bone breaks and so, but it is to be expected.

On the bright side, "Every Day is Still a Farkin Bonus" and we are living them large. Her spirits are still bright and she is still my rock. And my PCa is still a walk in the park comparatively.

Just an update for all that know us, and now I am putting the PCa on the extreme back burner until September. The timing of the next scan is great, I will do the scan and then continue on to GFMPH, New York.

Was hoping for a new update on Lynn and you. Sorry about your PSA rise, but since we are in similar situations, not sure you really expected anything different. The news on Lynn is always hard to read, but I needed to know.

Give her, and you, the very best from Peggy and myself. You guys are still the subject of conversations among us. I know you are both in a tough situation, but as usual, you always make the best out of a bad thing. That's much more healthier on the head and mind, then letting it destroy you.

Keep on enjoying that thing called life. Can I assume safely with your new rise, that there is still no evidence of any other mets going on? Or will that have to wait until your next special scan?

Your posts always touch me. Your honesty and openness in giving us a glimpse into a very personal part of your lives, and your compassion for your "Lovely Lynn" amaze me. Your ability to look at everything good that your life has to offer makes me realize how good my life is. You two are lucky people to have found each other and have each other to enjoy.

I wish none of had to be here, but I appreciate you being here for almost thee years now. That's a lot of great posts. There's a lot of great people here and you are certainly one of them.

I stepped away for a few days after I made this post and did not immediately see all of your posts.

The continued support and uplifting spirits from you folks gives Lynn and I both great joy.

The weekend was rather uneventful, and that is a good thing. After much conversation between Lynn and I, we have decided to interview the main Hospice organizations in our area. While we are not there yet where they are required, we want to become comfortable with them and find the one that is the best fit. What I am looking for now is whether any of them can do more than I am doing to provide for a greater QoL for Lynn. We also do not want to do anything that may take away from our ability to still use our medical team and all of the resources we have developed at MDA.

So this week we will be talking to them and gathering information.

Thank you all once again for your continuing support and love. I have said it many times, but this journey of mine with PCa and Lynn's cancer would not be possible to sustain without you folks.

I'm sorry to hear about the continued decline of Lynn's health and the continued rise of your PSA, but none of it was unexpected. Neither was the amazing and beautiful spirit you both exhibit. It's a great example and inspiration to all of us.

Thanks for keeping updated. You and Lynn are definitely special people. I am happy to have met you personally and feel I know Lynn. When you talked about her, you always had a grin on your face. Whatever you decide in hospice, I know you and Lynn will make the right decision.
