Emotional Difficulties

Here it is guys: (sigh)

It's been seven years since my robotic Prostectomy, seminal gland, nerves and prostate removed.
Good news first....cancer free, Praise the LORD, I'm thankful.

Bad news.....every once in a while I go through this emotional/mental thing with......no erections, no ejac, no orgasms, just a soft lifeless part of my body.
I please and satisfy my wife manually and she's very happy, but I have no feelings at all like I did prior to 2004. I wish I had asked for the nerve sparing, I hate the vacuum pump. And I just wish I could gain an erection, have an orgasm and feel something like I did pre-op.....

More later, I don't want to depress myself...gotta stay outa that !

I think we all go through times when we long for the good old days pre-surgery, or pre-treatment, when everything worked and we felt good about our "manliness." That's something I definitely can relate to.

I'm not yet at two years, but I'm pretty much in the same situation as you, and although most of the time I'm happy with things the way they are, there are days when I really miss the physical parts of sex that no longer are in my arsenal.

My uro has been asking me lately if I want to start injecting with Trimix, and one of these days I just might say yes. Have you thought about that?

Your statement about "Praise the Lord, I'm cancer free" is the key thing, though. Most good things in life come with a price tag, and unfortunately, impotence problems are too often the price for successful prostate surgery.

Hang in there. Your stats show you were a Gleason 9 with all cores positive. Given those stats, you have a lot to be thankful for.

Few men would say they don't miss good old sex. But, there are many PCa men who would gladly trade it in to have your 7 year numbers.

I know you know that. Doesn't make you miss it any less. There are some guys trying testosterone therapy out there who are reporting some really great results from it. I also have a Gleason 9 and I don't think I have the guts to try it, but it does sound good. Oh well, I'll just have to be happy with the low PSA.

Good luck, and hopefully you can find substitute pleasures with your wife that can be mutually satisfying.

woodonknow, i'm very new at this but i think if you start a new post you may be able to recieve more info. on your concerns. my first sentence will explain why i'm not one to offer any advice, although i can share that you have come to a very positive community to air your concerns and ask advice. from one newbie to another, welcome and keep the faith brother!

cfree-if you haven't tried injections, I highly recommend them.  It's a thin needle that doesn't have to be inserted very deeply, and it's a pretty reliable way to obtain positive results.

I wasn't thrilled about them nor was my urologist.  I went to a different urologist.  While they worked for me after a little trial and error, the best thing was I think they jump started my responses to the blue pill.

You might want to consider seeing a Urologist who specializes in

male sexual dysfunction and get his input on:

1- Trimix Injections

2- Penile Implants

Just a suggestion.

Personally, I developed ED Post-Prostatectomy in February 2004 and suffered deep depression and frustration until I was implanted with an

IPP (Inflatable Penile Prosthesis) in December 2007.

Thankfully, this completely corrected my ED and restored my sex life and the emotional intimacy with my wife of 45 years.

I wish you the best of luck resolving your ED problem and I can honestly say that I know what you are going through now.

No organisms?

 I guess I am somewhat hesitant to say this, but you can achieve dry organisms.. are you saying that this also has escaped you?

 My doctor did not tell me I could get them and I never knew dry organisms even existed.

 I was next to my wife early on taking care of her needs thinking I would never again have an orgasim. Then out of the blue.. just being really close to her I had one.. Now they are harder to get than being inside of her. I have a friend  that also had prostate surgery, and he called me up one day and asked me if we could talk frankly... of course I said.. He said "I was touching myself and ....  " Well, I said, then you can also!! He also had no clue??!!

I must say that I get much better results when manually performed   as my wife does not really get into my world and does not show any interest in doing so. I do take care of her needs. And, well anyway,  occasionally I need to take care of myself...

But as you said, I have no ability to get an erection, no insurance so Trimex/implant is out of the question, even during a dry organism, my little one has no life in it.. I miss the actual experiance.. I am too young to go through life this way.. but I am alive.. I do feel grateful for that!!
