First PSA test results tomorrow

Hello All,

Been reading a bunch of posts on this forum, but have not yet posted.

I am 42. Got diagnosed on Jan 12. open surgery on March 20 was successful in that the cancer was totally organ confined. Path report showed 4+3 Gleason, T2c. My PSA at diagnosis was 3.55. I don't know exactly what percentage involvement my cancer was in the prostate, but it was described as moderately involved.

Needless to say this Memorial Day weekend was tough as I am so very nervous about my appointment with my Uro tomorrow to get the results of my first PSA test since the surgery. I am SO hoping to join the zero club...I have three young children under 5.

I've noticed that the Sloan Kettering Nomogram predicts the probability of no progression. I'm not sure if those numbers also represent the likelihood of a zero reading at the first PSA test or does it only predict the likelihood of cancer's return after the initial test of zero. In other words, if I have a 98% chance of no progression within the first 2 years, does it follow that my chances of a zero tomorrow is 98% also?

I know I am obsessing too much, but it's hard not to think about it all the time at this point.

RH, tell you what buddy when you get that big fat zero we will all toast you. But you know that means that you buy the beer. Welcome to HW greatest group of guys and gals around.

Now you can start thinking about meeting them face to face at GFMPH North. Many of the same guys that came to my house last April are already booking flights to Rochester.

Take a deep breath and just be patient waiting for tomorrow. So something eventful to pass the time. :)

Welcome aboard, to our corner of the world. So glad you decided to join our ranks. Good luck on your upcoming PSA test, that first one post treatment is usually tense moment. Hopefully, you will easily join the Zero Club on your first pass, there's always room for one more.

RH - I'd get your credit card ready to stat a tab 'cause you're getting a zero and we drink a lot around here. :)

I think you should start obsessing on how you're going to celebrate the good news.

Now get off the internet and go do something with the kids. Tomorrow will take care of itself tomorrow.

I'm sure you'll be around a long long time to see your kids grow up. Mine are 15 and 12 now and I miss the under 5 days terribly.

I thin k we all thought about it all the time at that stage. It gets less with time but the anxious moments never really vanish, we just become better prepared to deal with them.

You went to the best place in world for surgery. I agree with others your chance is 98% tomorrow. Get your CC ready. I like Caronas.

RH1970, welcome.
Don't be disappointed if you are non-zero tomorrow, it could take a reading or two to get all the way down.
Here's to a quick trip to the zero club!

I'm with ya... I was 42 @ dx also.... Man that feels like 20 years ago.... Drop back tomorrow with the results! My beer of choice lately has been Stella.

Welcome RH,

I'm going for my fourth post DX PSA test Fri. and hope to join the zero club too. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for both of us.

Just got out...

PSA = 0.0!!!

There are a bunch of us 40-45 year olds here. Congrats on the zero.

I'm a Hopkins alumni, as well. Gleason 6, 3.8 PSA. Post op: G6, organ confined, neg lymph nodes and sem ves. 3 kids under 5, too. Enjoy your life. wink
