Just came back from my quarterly checkup and the PSA is still undetectable - a great way to start the summer.
My Uro decided last appt that it was time to start looking for other problems. In addition to a full slate of blood work, I went in last week for an ultrasound examination of all my organs. The results for everything was great. The one issue I had at the previous appointment was my cholesterol had shot up to 7.0 but I have it back down to 5.2 and will continue to try to eat healthier to lower it further.
I went through some depression this past fall/winter, was eating too may late night snacks and put on about
10lbs. I've been feeling a lot better lately and have been eating healthier and taking the weight back off. My wife (who worries enough for both of us) is grinning ear to ear at the moment.

Thanks everyone. In the outside world I like to keep things to myself so it's great to be able to come on here and discuss my medical issues, even if it is just to broadcast some good news.
Somewhat on topic, last fall I was interviewed in our local paper about
my cancer story. It was during the Movember campaign and they wanted to do a story about
an actual person rather than just mustache parties. Because of that story I got a call last month from a woman who runs one of the Relay for Life cancer events, an all night fundraiser for the Canadian Cancer Society. She wanted me to be one of their guest survivors for their
opening reception. I'm uncomfortable with being singled out like that and was going to turn down the offer, but she said that they were having a lot of trouble finding male cancer survivors so I agreed.
As part of the event they're putting together video with interview clips of the various survivors. Two people came to the house to interview me a few days ago. I thought it would be straight forward but it's still very hard to talk about
. I'm afraid I wasn't very eloquent but hopefully the emotions I was feeling came out if nothing else. It sure drained me, I was in bed by 8pm that night.

I admire you stepping out like that with the interviews!
Can you share the clip with us?
More of us (me included) have to take part in stuff like that to bring awareness of this crap we all face and how we are dealing with it.
Proud of you my brother.

Snowbound great to hear the good news. I too admire you for the pr campaign. I also don't share much of this life with the public. As a matter of fact most of my neighbours didn't even notice me kicking around the house for a few extra weeks last fall. Sometimes I feel like I should be doing something but that just isn't me. So thanks again. And share that link for us.

Well, if it's not too embarrassing and I get a copy I'll include a link.

Glen, thanks for checking in and sharing the news. It is always a great day here when we see follow ups like yours. And kudos on stepping out of your comfort zone with the interviews for a good cause.

Glen:
congrats on the Zero Club membership ( PSA <0.10 - ther is no such thing as an absolute zero)
-Congrats on lowering the cholesterol - bad cholesterol runs in my family but have been able to keep it down to 2.2 with better eating and statins ( lipitor)
which can be beneficial to those with PCa ( has been noted in other previous threads).
-congrats on the interview and participation for the upcoming Relay for Life - very good cause ( lots of pink ribbons will be in attendance -so having blue ribbons and more testosterone will help balance off the night) .
-wishing you and your wife all the best and big grins too !!
