Hypothetical question: No Sex for a cure?

This is just a hypothetical question and just wondering what other's views are:

If you could be 100% cured of PC and have 0 problems with incontinence, but you had to give up all assmeblance of sex and have no libido, would you?

If we define libido as sexual desire, then to give up sex and not care isn't such a downer. Giving up sex with a raging libido ---- that's tougher.

But, not so tough. When I was headed into surgery we, wife and I, were clear with the surgeon that a long cancer free life was #1. I told him then I didn't expect it was going to give me much satisfaction to have friends and family looking at me lying in my coffin with an erection like a 15-year-old boy at a bikini contest and saying, "what a shame, but just look at the rise in that man's pants! Dead, but rock hard. My, my, my! Did you ever?"

Giving up sex with a raging libido ---- that's tougher. 

that's being in prison cool .

fact is most of us would give up sex and libido and allow ourselves to be transformed into weepy eunuchs just to keep the beast at bay for a few years.

I'm in the opposite boat. My girlfriend of three and a half years dumped me about a month before my surgery. I found out later she was cheating on me also just before I was dumped. So I made it through surgery with very slight ED and no incontinent issues but no one to share with. 

So the hypothetical question for me would be more along the line of would I give up erectile function to get the love of my life back??  

Sorry to bring this thread down but I guess reading it brought up some negative feelings and I needed to vent. Again sorry guys!

Sex is not life........golf on the other hand........

I can think of many things that are more important than sex....sight, smell, taste, hearing, touch, all my limbs working, mobility, freedom, etc. Dont' get me wrong, sex is great, but it isn't everything.

Sex is ONE source of pleasure in my life, but ther are so many others: watching the the grandkids grow up and feeling the love in their hugs; doing things with my wife of 41 years; watching our two wonderful offspring raise their families; hitting a 200-yard drive right down the middle of the fairway; making homemade ice cream; tasting the first ripe tomato of the summer; seeing how this year's home made wine turns out. Yep, I'd choose life every time.

We talked about this before treatment. Life is full of so many things. Sex is one of those special things, but we knew we'd be left with SO many others. I remember reading somewhere once: "Sex is an event. Love and affection are the atmosphere of a life." We knew if we had to give up the event, we certainly didn't have to give up the atmosphere. We couldn't have love or affection if he were gone.

I would never say a word about it to him if it turned out that he could no longer 'perform'. I would never make him feel bad (and it would). We try hard to look ahead and be grateful for what we DO have. Life!! :)

There is some implication here that if you can't have an erection, you can't have sexual relations with your wife/partner/ ???.

My wife and I have a satisfactory sexual relationship. At 61years old, I really don't need what I had when I was 20. Not that I wouldn't like it, of course.

We talked about it before surgery, after surgery, and 3 years later. It was a good trade. I feel fortunate for what I have. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

for me, lack of libido is the gamestopper not the inability to get an erection.

NO, and I have been married for over 38 years. My complete lack of ED is the only bonus I have gotten out of my PC ordeal.

I priortized my ordeal in three buckets.  1.  get the cancer 2.  take are of the continence issues and 3.  resolve the ED issues.  I have been ok on 1 and 2 for 4 years and still struggle with # 3 but I feel I am very fortunate to be where I am today.  To answer you question, probably yes (and I am single).

I am with JNF also. Got to play golf. Just waking up every morning and knowing I get to see and talk to the ones I love is more than enough for me.
