Cialis, after radical prostatectomy.

Hi, any suggestions as to the best time of the day to take the once-daily 5mg Cialis that my Urologist prescribed? The side effect I've read about online from other users sound pretty uncomfortable. Because of these i hesitate to start taking tonight in case they destroy a good night's sleep Did anyone else experience these side-effects that I've read about, like back and leg pain?

the side effects lasted 1-2 weeks with me. Everyone reacts differently.

I started taking it every 36 hours 1 month out of surgery (it's already a blur!) for blood flow purposes in view of attempts at rehabbing 4-6 weeks out of surgery. I had a strict schedule initially for those purposes then after a few months would only take it an hour or so before sex. Don't take them much anymore and don't need them but I attribute that to many things including my quick and constant use so soon after surgery.

I felt a low-grade headache when initially taking Cialis.  I started taking 2 ibuprofen at the same time as dosing the Cialis at my doctor's recommendation and I haven't felt another headache since.

Thanks guys. I just had my catheter removed today and am dealing with incontinence....I don't want to add another side effect,etc. I'd like to be able to sleep without a catheter and side effects of cialis for at least one night. David, you and I have the same MD, BTW.

I wasn't thinking ED pills that early. My first day after catheter removal all my energy was focused on urinating. I had a complete mental breakdown after I got home and assumed I couldn't urinate, literally freaked out and was on my way to the ER until Helen calmed me down and gave me good and logical advice.

I think Helen or Ann will want you starting Cialis in a month based on our MDs advice. You should call them and iron that out and ask them for samples too. You might do better on Viagra or Levitra. This is the time to experiment,

How was your pathology? Sorry if I missed it in another thread. They went over that with you today, right?

How was your experience with our MD? I've been overseas for a year and can't wait to catch up with him. I like having him in my corner.

Hi, all I learned about my cancer is that it was confined to the left side and had made it to the surface, but they're hopeful that it didn't breach the capsule (outer membrane). I have to go in for more tests every three months for the foreseeable future. The funny thing is that my PSA scores were always very low. I had the catheter in for two weeks because when they initially removed it a week ago, there was some swelling that prevented me from urinating. I filled up like a water balloon and ran back to the office where they were unable to cath me because my urethra was swollen too tightly. I had to go to the ER for a smaller cath. So, my bladder muscles are pretty atrophied, despite all the pre-op kegels I did.

I'll call Helen tomorrow to see when I should commence the cialis. I'll certainly not start anything tonight. I'm glad you shared your timing. Ciao.

I never had any side effects at that dosage. My doc had me taking them every other day, since it's a 36-hour pill. I took them in the morning; no trouble sleeping.

Have been on daily 5 mg cialis two weeks now. Only symptom is mild indigestion. Every day. But I started 1000mg pom extract at same time. Take both in am. Have had cast iron stomach all my life, so it's got to be either cialis or pom ex, but which, I don't know.

Levitra (live apart from wife so only use it once/mth or so) 5mg always gives me headaches, flushing, and sometimes a little stuffy nose. Has always worked pretty well, less so since surgery. Can't say about cialis--is supposed to heal surgery damage via blood flow?

The good news is, 4 mths out from surgery, I'm not entirely sure. but, I think:

Robert, thanks for your info. Glad to hear that things are awakening. Funny thing, I read your response and misread "Pom" for "Po rn".... Couldn't figure out where you got a 1000mg po rn pill! Lol. BTW, does Pom mean pomegranate?

Cialis worked for me. Started about 2 months after surgery. Erections started without it but
Cialis gave them that extra boost.

Yes, the pom refers to pomegranate extract pills. I do those because the juice has too many carbs for my borderline pre-diabetes.

Finished the urologist's 30 day 5mg cialis sampler recently. Have stayed on the pom pills. The mild indigestion stopped at same time as I quit cialis, so cialis definitely was the cause. Read about one dr. prescribing cialis for tues and fri. then levitra other times as needed. I guess to get the best combo of blood supply effects plus ED support when needed. I think that would be great for me since I only see my wife every month or so anyway. Will ask on next urologist visit if he will prescribe that way. Don't know what to do until I see uro in Oct.

Here are the costs I got from pharmacy for various scripts:

levitra - 10ea of 5mg for $228
cialis - 10ea of 10mg for $282 (maybe I could cut in halves)
cialis - 30ea of 5mg daily blister pack $133

That's with insurance helping a bit. Guess the big ins. co.s don't think it's required.

No other side effects from cialis. I have been in a yoga class on base. Don't know if that's why I missed the leg and back pain SEs. I am hoping the yoga instructor will cover levitation at some future class! She is very cute. But my brain is still not getting signals through to mr. wrinkles. Just with my wife. Which is ok with me.

Off to the lab next week for my next PSA.

Hi Bobby,

Thanks for the info. I've found that the cialis pills cause moderate insomnia. I think I'll switch to taking it in the morning or taking every other day. Otherwise I don't seem to have any side effects, save some congestion and a small headache that occurs aout an our after taking a dose, but goes away pretty quickly.

Most PDE5i drugs (Cialis/Levitra/Viagra) come in various per-pill dosages that cost, roughly, the same thing. If 10mg works for you you can save some money by getting a scrip for the 20mg and buying yourself a pill cutter. And I think the pharmacy at WalMart has an unusually good price for Levitra.

Cialis is the longest-lasting of the popular PDE5i drugs and it makes the least difference with Cialis what time of day you take it. With your morning handfull o' pills should be fine. Levitra makes me sensitive to bright light so taking that in the morning is a problem, especially if I forget my shades.
