PAP and prostate core mitomic test

Anyone have any expierence with either of these tests?

Can't seem to find what would constitute good/ bad numbers for the PAP test results.

Also interested if anyone knows a lab in the states that is doing the prostate core mitomic test.

I only know about PAP tests and never heard of the other. PAP is the old detection method before psa, so its been around a long time. There have been some research studies by Dattoli and Strum that indicate that PAP is the best indicator of treatment failure, well above gleason and psa.
I think PAP below 3 is good and higher is bad. I don't know what the exact cut off is to predict treatment failure; but I know it is in the Dattolli Study.

I have had several PAP tests in the last year. The results float between .8 and 1.1. I'm using it as an additional marker since my PSA isn't really a good indicator of disease involvement. I don't think it provides much, if any, additional informaiton than the PSA. I too do not know what the other test is.

I am posting a link with what information I can find on the "prostate core mitomic test". I too have not heard of this test previously. Looking for anyone who has expierence with this test.

Its been a while since you had your last biopsy... Why not give it a shot and report back.

What does your URO say about it?

I asked him to look at it yesterday, waiting to hear back. Next biopsy scheduled for 8/30. Hope to have an answer before then.

I had the mitomics test. Came back positive.My big-shot urologist said he would believe it only if the test were negative. He thought their seemingly impressive statistics on reliability were skewed by strange sample selection.

I remain in limbo. PSA dropped and biopsies and mri turn up nothing.

By the way, test is expensive. It is the only thing I have ever had trouble collecting on from my health insurance.

So having the test come back positive did nothing to progress you towards a treatment?
What was the cost of the test and where we're you able to have it done?

Sent you an email with name of medical facility. Somehow I don't think that I should broadcast it. I don't know whether they want to be known for that procedure, or even if they would do it again. All experimental at the time.

I think that there are more reliable diagnostic processes than mitomics, including mri, color doppler, saturation biopsy, pca3.

Just curious, as one who has already been dx. with PC.

Isn't the PAP another marker like PSA but doesn't it also indicate metestatic activity?

Also, I noticed the "normal" PAP range is I think below 3 or 4. Is that normal both pre and post a PC dx?

For example, a normal PSA is 0-4 (I know that's a generalization) but after a PC dx. you want it really close to 0.
