Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. I have written a letter to EVERY person in my contacts (some I dont know well) and explained about Michael being diagnosed at 39 without any symptoms and stressed that each person has a man in their life, they need to make sure they get tested and be aware of PCa. I have posted on Facebook and twitter. Dylan, my soon to be 11 year old (sept 7) is talking about how he will talk about it at school so that all the kids can tell their fathers about it (I am so proud of him) I am hoping the letter I have emailed will be mailed to their loved ones and so on.

SEPTEMBER IS PROSTATE CANCER AWARENESS MONTH!!! get the word out!

Well done! Both you and Dylan.

I finally got around to telling my extended family, aunts,uncles, cousins etc and urged them to make sure they are aware and for all the males to get tested.

Of interest - no one else in my family to include extended family has had Prostate Cancer. -

Thanks for reminding me, just looked down and realized it was September the First. I noticed that even our local Wal-Marts are getting in the add with free PSA screening, and a sign that says "Real Men Get Tested". Not sure if it is local or part of a national campaign.

Too bad there isn't a better funded and organized effort to educate the general public on this issue. I just posted the following on my Facebook page:

September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. I urge all men over 40 to get an annual PSA test. It can be a life saver! If all the news reports about the value of testing have put doubt in your mind, just ask someone with advance prostate cancer what he thinks.

It is a proven fact that when men and women talk openly about prostate cancer men's lives are saved. Susan you have done so much to save lives and Michael is one lucky man to have you in his life. I too borrowed your thoughts and posted to my FB friends and family.

Ladies,

Since its Pca awareness month, I have been wearing my blue Pca bracelets and even painted my toes and nails blue (something I would never do). Lots of attention on the ugly blue polish but it gives me a conversation opener, to let anyone who asks about it that September is Pca awareness month.

In support, I have the kids and relatives doing the same.

What a great idea!!!! Maybe I will do the same. I colored my hair this morning, maybe I should consider blue! Not sure it would turn out though!!! haha! I really do like the nail polish idea.

Bud not much difference beweent gray and blue hair. Ever heard of a blue haired old lady?
