I am including some (but not all) of the noteworthy activities and discussion items from the Sept 27-30, (actually Sept 23-Oct 3 !) 2012 meeting held in Rochester NY.
Attendees came from Texas, Idaho, Louisiana, Alabama, Florida, Tennessee, Connecticut, Ohio, New York, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Illinois. Total attendance reached a new world record of 27, consisting of 19 men and 8 women. All were presented with goodie bags and commemorative GFMPH T-Shirts, expertly designed and prepared by Sonny that will no doubt bring back good memories.
PCa related activities:
• Each attendee had the opportunity to share his stats, treatment, prognosis and lessons learned.
• Three VED designs with costs ranging from $25 to over $400 were presented by Paul1959, the founder of one of fastest growing online ED websites, Franktalk.org. Seals, operation and vacuum release mechanisms were compared and tested.
• Several designs of VED retention ring designs were presented and compared. A support device that eliminates hinging and pinching was presented.
• The merits and demerits of the three main oral ED drugs were discussed. Seemingly unrelated side effects such as severe back pain, shoulder pain and blue vision were discussed.
• The link to a website with injection training videos was presented to all attendees.
• LG Medical TENS unit was demonstrated and suggested settings for incontinence and ED were supplied. Sterile contact leads were supplied to anyone interested in field testing.
• A complete listing of the ingredients and concentrations for 15 different injectable mixes was presented.
• The new Viberect ED device was demonstrated by Paul and some design modifications were suggested. The addition of artfully located energy absorbing materials will be field tested for possible incorporation in to future designs.
• One member discussed the effects of enduring both extremely low T levels as well as extremely high, moving more than a few of us to tears - demonstrating the effect of estrogen as well.
• Unused and unneeded supplies were offered to those individuals who could use them.
Scientific, Professional and technical activities:
• There was a visual demonstration of the speed of sound in air that helped certain individuals better understand the concept of Mach number.
• Infrared security night vision cameras were available for those individuals with projects involving detection of wildlife or intruders at zero lux levels.
• Motion sensing equipment was demonstrated and the merits of passive IR heat detection vs optical rate of change detection were discussed.
• Genetically engineered crops were shown on the stalk as well as in their processed form for potential application in other locales. Samples were distributed to interested parties.
• Several different personal defense items were road tested and the merits and demerits of each discussed.
• A solid state Peltier device was demonstrated and its potential application to rehab devices discussed.
• The use of Tritium as a visualization device was demonstrated.
• The merits of various wavelengths of UV light and the suitability for air, water, and pest elimination was discussed and results demonstrated. Germicidal air purification was installed and available upon request.
• Wifi was password protected and available to everyone.
Food and related activities:
Before the event even started, Sonny arrived early and helped prepare the grounds in so many ways I cannot list them all. I will not be able to look at our garden without thinking of him and his insistence that we use a lot of mulch. He was soon followed by Startech who joined right in with the wood splitting and other chores.
Cold cuts were on hand for early arrivals so attendees could be fed as they arrived. Wednesday night dinner was a cookout consisting of hamburgers and locally prepared Zweigel's hot dogs, and salads.
Thursday night dinner was lasagna, and fresh homemade apple crisp prepared by the hostess and her mother.
The official meeting began Friday night at Mayer’s Lake Ontario Winery and Bistro where we were served a choice of NY strip steak, crab stuffed haddock, or chicken in wine sauce, with wine and dessert. We were seated in a more isolated area so we could freely discuss private matters without putting the staff in therapy. This dinner was attended by the wives, so fortunately, the conversation was slightly tempered.
The appearance of Clearwater cowboy and Jeannie one hour before we had to leave for the restaurant, started the dinner and the weekend off right. We now know who can be trusted to keep a secret. While Idaho would normally win the "farthest traveled award", this year the award goes to Rob2 who flew in directly from Budapest, Hungary. James C wins the most tenacious award, proving his mettle by drive his RV straight through almost 800 miles in each direction so he could get here early and stay late.
After the Friday night meeting, attendees were free to split up and participate in any, or none, of the offered activities. The women wisely vacated the premises and attended the local Apple Festival, a local craft and antique coop, and a small quilting shop. The men attended the Apple Festival sampling different culinary delights, studying the work of local artisans and enjoying an excellent car show.
The Chicken Barbeque was expertly grilled over a freshly dug open barbecue pit by Goodlife who somehow managed to have all the food ready and juicy at the same time.
Once again, produce for the event was donated by Passarell Farms, in Holley, NY, one of the largest producers of cabbage in the country. If you have ever eaten a Chinese egg roll, the cabbage most likely came from Passarell’s. The meal was followed by hot fudge ice cream sundaes and a custom sheet cake made at the local grocery store.
The days have already become a bit of a blur so I will just list some items in no particular order, corn soup was prepared by Pat, (Mrs Cajun Jeff), outings to Kelly's Apple Farm and Zarpentine's for fresh cider and pastries, an educational outing to a store that specializes in products never to be seen at a WalMart (or in public), Kentucky Fried Chicken provided by Startech, etc.
Campfires were held almost every night and once I got past the heinous act of burning wood for aesthetics rather than BTUs it was actually very enjoyable. The new location proved to be the perfect setting for swapping stories, testing various alcohol infused beverages and listening to the gentle strumming of Jazzman and his guitar. Pomegranate wine by Glenora Cellars as well as pomegranate liqueurs and and juice were consumed - purely for their medicinal qualities.
A magnificent Scotch as well as wine was provided by 142. More than a few bottles of wine were generously brought by BB Fan and Terry the WaterGuy. The WampusCats brought enough bottles of their homemade Trimix and Quadmix wine blends to satiate all the attendees' cravings for months to come. Regional souvenir items were added for everyone's enjoyment including: Louisiana Pralines by Tiger fan, Painted rocks by WampusCats, Louisiana crawfish chips by Cajun Jeff and carefully transported by BayouJackel Roger and Teresa by car all the way from Baton Rouge, and Phillie Tastykakes and other H-Town delights by CMetalman and Jessica.
Breakfast was expertly prepared by 142 who was also caught in the act of being the clean up fairy more than once. (To anyone considering hosting a similar event: do everything you can to have him stay at your house.)
Several individuals had the opportunity to try certain devices that propelled lead projectiles into a safe location. To the benefit of the local wildlife, potatoes and apples were launched great distances thereby distributing Nature's bounty and potential seeds for future generations to enjoy.
This was an outstanding event and a good time was had by all. As Raddad says "It just gets Gooderer and Gooderer."
Guys,
You have no idea how honored we feel by your presence. You came from all over the country to participate in this event. The conversations, laughs, and deep feelings we shared have touched our souls.
Thank you for making our lives so much richer. That is GFMPH!
