first post

My first post at healingwell was on 10/23/08. Ironically it was about sex lol. At the time my screen name was living with a monster. It took a week hanging out hers to change it to living 1963. My rational was my focus should be on the living and not the monster. Tony C was the first to welcome me here. Swim mom doting daugbter zufus billymac purgatory and so many others were here for me. Some we have lost. War eagle, smiling old coot, others who's names escape me. Sorry!!! If it helps I can remeber the words to every song I ever heard but I am bad at names. David emerson probably helped me the most to get my head on straight. He was the first stage 4 guy to talk to me. I am so sad by the thougbt of him leaving this world. It has been 4 years since I found this forum. I am so glad I did. Will you all please join me in a silent prayer for David. Todd.

Hi, Todd. I met David a few years ago at one of his disc golf tournaments and was quickly impressed with his lust for life. I watched him Hole in one a hole and he said, "you may never see that again." Sadly, he was right.I had the honor of doing a calender shoot with him last summer for PC survivors, joined with 10 other local survivors, for a local urology clinic. I got to be Mr.October, which saddens me, because that is the month that he and Mary made the decision to transition to hospice. I think I'll remember this every year as time goes on. I only live about 20 minutes from him and am sorry that I didn't spend more time with him. He has done so much local media to educate the men to get early testing, and his foundation FLHW, has raised over 220,000 dollars for advanced prostate cancer research. I found David's blog through the numerous Google searches that I frantically completed after learning of my fiance's diagnosis. My fiance' was diagnosed almost a year ago at age 46 with Stage 4 (bone mets), PSA 34, Gleason 4+4, all 12 cores.

Then I found David's site and said - wow - over 6 years of living with this, an early age diagnosis also, an even more dire situation than my fiance's, and an INCREDIBLE attitude. I've followed his posts since then and I'm just numb today to learn of his passing. He is an inspiration for how to LIVE through however many days you have.

Joined here today, because I certainly need a new blog to follow...any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
