Standing at 78 months post dx stage 4 and still doi.g very well despite my poor prognosis I feel it is important to remember daily and to share with others my many blessings as well as my hope for the future.
When I got the bad news that changed my life the only proven therapy was ht and chemo. There was much talk of a new drug ( provenge) and I hoped I would do well enough to see it fda approved. I did.... I lived long enough to see 5 grand daughters born as well. Still no chemo. That will always be tbe drug of last resort. Now there is zytiga and mdv 3100. What's more there are other promising drugs I am hearing about
. The point is that we have a future. We have hope. I was able to be provenged. May it work as long as ht did. Others have not done so well. My friend recently was diagnosed with stage 4 non hodgkins lymphoma. He wont last long I fear.
I don't wet myself and my equipment still works. I am healthy and I am in love with my wife. .....sure.... I don't have a sex drive but if my mind is into it the rest of me works. I have many good friends here and my life is worth living. I will be a member of this forum for at least another 25 years... Todd

Todd
You may recognize this
That this might really be the real end
How's it hit you
When you get that kind of news?
Man, what'd you do?"
He said
"I went skydiving
I went Rocky Mountain climbing
I went 2.7 seconds on a bull named Fu Man Chu
And I loved deeper
And I spoke sweeter
And I gave forgiveness I'd been denying"
And he said
"Someday I hope you get the chance
To live like you were dying"
He said
"I was finally the husband
That most of the time I wasn't
And I became a friend a friend would like to have
I'm honored and humbled to call you friend
25 Years - I'll still be here
Hugs
Bud
We will beat this crap

Todd, that is truly inspiring to many of us cursed with advanced disease. We just need to keep the fear and anxiety below the surface where it belongs ..below the surface...your post helps.

Todd, ironically I just finished reading your story “A Second Chance” in my office and I was starting to tear up. A coworker came in and noticed something wasn’t right with me. I gave her the story to read and when she returned she thanked me and gave me a big hug. She knows my condition and told me to live you do. As it’s been said before you are a inspiration to all of us no matter what stage we are in this journey. Keep it up, we need you here.

Todd, you have "the knowledge" aka what is important in life ---- may they continue to be important to you (and us) for many, many years to come.

Todd,
I especially like the part that you are healthy and in love with your wife.
People like you and Purgatory make my little problems seem small.
Keep the faith,

Great post Todd.
Thanks for setting an example to be followed. Who would have thunk it 1.5 years ago - I'm looking forward to posts on a peer to peer cancer support forum for inspiration.
You, Purgatory, Raddad, Sonny, and many more have really shown me a better, more balanced view on life and adversity. Thank you, all.
Darn this dusty air in the office, it's making my eyes misty.

Todd, hears to another 25 years. I do enjoy reading your posts.
On the subject of counting one's blessings I have done this for some time now. Seemed to have occured around my 40th birthday. Was on an airplane and just sort of hit me that I had a great deal of things to be thankful for. But then, I have always been a bit of an optimist.
Best to you and more blessings.

Todd,
Thanks for inspiration! I'd like to RSVP for your 25 year celebration. Our greatest fear should not be that we set our goals so high that we can't achieve them, rather, that we set them so low that we do. Take care my friend!

You give me hope. I struggle with why I had my wife taken from me (breast Cancer) and my two daughters now have to watch their dad fight cancer. But I'm thankful for my daughters and it's for them that I will fight this crap and who know's maybe get to walk them down the isle when they choose to marry. And maybe get to be a grandpa!
