Pratoman, I just started a thread on my most recent PSA tests, as you can see below, the results varied. Why did your Uro not offer Free PSA and PCA3 tests to help you decide whether you should have a biopsy?
I am required to have my blood drawn every three months as I am defaulting to AS.
10/26/12 Quest Diagnostics Beckman Coulter = 2.5 previos 05/23/12 = 3.6
11/06/12 USC Lab. Unknown = 3.16 no previos test
11/15/12 Asia Lab Bangkok CMIA. = 2.1 previous 11/24/2010 = 2.8
These are my three tests after Dx in August. I am on AS at university of Southern Califonia and was required to have my test at at their lab, but since i did not have any baseline established at USC, i decided to have additional tests done at labs that i had my tests done before.
It looks like my PSAs are a little bit lower than prior to being Dxed for PCa. Quest Lab went down from 3.6 to 2.5. Asia Lab went down from 2.8 to 2.1. Not significant, but perhaps enough to keep me on AS till my next test coming up in Feb.

Akai - so it looks from your numbers, if i understand them correctly, like at each lab, they went down, but also that there are fairly substantial variations from lab to lab. Is that your point?
As far as Free PSA and PCA3, Both Urologists (my original local one, and the one i met with at Columbia Prysbaterian who will be doing the biopsy, told me that free psa is less useful with PSA under 4, that its most useful when PSA is >4 and <10. I didn't ask about
pca3, but the one at Columbia Pr, mentioned it, i forgot what he said about
it, but he said no matter what it might show, i should have the biopsy anyway. I do remember him mentioning that it was a fairly new test.
What is AS?
