Hi everyone. Sorry for not being around much but life has had me frazzled lately. Busy busy busy. I hat this disease but I must admit it has opened the doors for some unique opportunities. Getting to go to D.C. was great but this week something really cool happened. Dendreon, the maker of provenge is sending a film crew to my house to put me on their website as a patient testimonial. On top of that they are sending Mandy and I to Florida the 12 th of January to be the guest speaker at some annual meeting and actually paying the wages I would lose at my regular job. As spock would say......fascinating. Todd

Sounds like you are Provenge's new poster child, that is so cool and I am sure you will enjoy being in Florida. We are all so proud of you.

Thanks steve and terry. The meeting is in St. Pete. I have never been in florida but a few days of florida sunshine inthe middle of washington winter will be veey gfmph. We will be staying at the Vinoy Renaissance Marriott. I would pay to do this but they are going to pay me. Any h/w brothers in the area?

todd, that is how i have become the "favored spokesman" for my St. Francis Oncology Rehab program. I was used recently in another promotion of them. I don't like being in the center light, however, I really believe in their program and the quality of their staff the past 1 1/2 years plus of going there weekly. Other words, I wouldn't help plug for them unless I really felt they earned it. I want more men/women in our region to become aware of such an excellent program.

I have a daughter that lives in Tampa - always getting pictures from her on facebook showing sun and beaches and all that enviable stuff.

I live in Gainesville, about 100 miles N.E. of St. Pete. The weather here this time of year is almost always very pleasant, almost balmy some days.

The Tampa/St. Pete area is also very pleasant because it's on the Gulf Coast, and thus has even more moderate winter temperatures than inland where I am. It's also a pretty short drive from there to the Orlando area, which is loaded with interesting stuff, and Cape Canaveral, Daytona Beach, etc., are just a few hours beyond that, if you're interested.

If you have the time and inclination, you and your wife could have a pretty good time during your visit down here.

I know very little at this point. What we requested was to leave portland oregon early on Saturday the 12 and leave florida early on Wednesday the 16. I know I will be speaking Monday the 14th but know not the time. I presume a car is inclluded. If not we will rent one. I would love to see the sites. Heck, I would love to do a ton but my gut tells me it will mostly be hanging out at a beach soaking up the sun and coronas. Who knows... if we like it perhaps we will come back and bring the daughter.

where will you be staying, very well might know of it. i have a lot of fond memories there, went back for the first time in 20 years, back in 2009. we went back to all our familiar haunts, including all the places on our first date. and to see our first apartment (still there) when we got married in 1974.

Very cool, a free vacation in the sunshine state, in January! Who knows, once you spend a few days here in the sunny south, you might just stay!
