Of course, I'm kidding. Trying to find some humor in an unfunny subject. Just hoping I can maintain some sense of humor through all this. Otherwise, why go through it, right? eyes

And I'm hoping for smooth sailing. The list of "side effects" reads like a Stephen King novel. In the words of Frank Barone, "Holy crap!"

One question: is it ok to use Trimix while on Lupron? Forgot to ask my onc, but she knows it's on my list of meds. Just wondering if anyone else has tried it. Though, I realize my sex drive will be in 1st gear while I'm on it, I do want to give it a go (and so does my wife).

Oh, RT starts in a little over a week. Can't wait.

I still take the daily cialis and use the trimix once in a while with my uro's encouragement. In fact, he had to go to bat for me - insurance wanted to stop paying for them, as there was supposedly no further reason to use them. However, the real reason for the pills & shot is not sex, but to keep willie from falling off (for me), and the desire to not see him fall off remains in the hope that if I ever come off lupron, I might find a use for him.

The Steven King version of "SE" is the children's edition.

Levitra and Staxyn are not compatible with Prolia/xgeva, and someone did tell me that was also true of Lupron. But digging through the indications lists, I did not find any warnings about Cialis and lupron/prolia/xgeva.

I been on lupron all but 18 months of the last 78. I have used every e.d. med known to man. It is all compatible. No worries mate. I don't need the e.d. meds anymore. Despite a.t- level of 33 willie works well.

I kinda figured one of my docs would have warned me off Viagra/Trimix (what I've been using) had there been any issues with Lupron, but was interested in hearing first-hand experiences.

142 - Yeah, I know, and my wife and I have had that conversation. Still, I want to stay engaged in that part of my marriage, so I'll try.

The good news: it's more than just OK to continue the Trimix while you are on Lupron; it helps to keep your hydraulics working. The bad news: penile rehab while on ADT is about as much fun as nursing a sick cat. My understanding of the relationship between ED pills and ADT is that the pills are unlikely to work and tend to be a waste of money.

I've been on ADT for four months now and, so far, I have avoided the avoidable side effects: no hot flashes, no weight gain, no muscle loss that I can see, brain fog not noticeably above my already high background level. I do have the unavoidable effects -- zero libido, total ED without Trimix -- but to be honest I mostly had those before the Lupron; it's hard for a guy in a wet diaper to feel that sexy.

The one ADT side effect that does bug me a bit is that my gonads have shrunk to the size of gumdrops. Not sure why I care but I do.

I have done 28 of 37 IMRT sessions. Nine to go. It looks like I'll make it through them; I'm sure you will too.

Three - four weeks.  Then Mr. Happy goes to sleep.  You will wonder what the fuss was all about.  Amusing, in its way, I guess.

Remember, the Lupron is only temporary. In my case, two effing years! ... No, make that two dreary years. With any luck the effing years come later.

This would be a good time for you to double down on the gym if you already belong to one or to join if you don't. Fitness lost while on HT is hard to get back. On Tuesdays and Thursdays I go straight to the gym from my radiation treatment and I still max out several of the machines. Radiation fatigue makes me fall asleep watching TV but it doesn't keep me away from the gym.

This stuff can be done.

I just want to add my two cents.. I just completed two years on HT, it is not a picnic, but if you have a great spouse like I do it is bearable. As much as we all would like to keep our "Man Mojo" going, when the HT kicks in, you will loose your desire, you will be tired, irritable, and probably gain weight. When I started the HT I weighed 188lbs, now I am at 208lbs and that is with working out and watching what goes in my mouth. The HT kills your metabolism and just eating what you normally eat and nothing more you will put on the pounds.

Don't fret too much over the Sex, and as much as I hate to admit it, the more important thing here is beating this little bugger!! When I get upset about my lack of functionality, my wife tells me that "at least you are sitting here having dinner with me!!!, do you prefer the alternative?" Kind of puts it in perspective. It will be difficult but just make yourself aware of the side-effects and try to mitigate them as best you can.

First, my onc said 4 - 6 months on Lupron. Of course, I know this could last longer.

Peter, I'm starting to hit the rower and weights again, but thanks for the reminder. I've been walking a few miles every day, and plan on continuing as long as the temp isn't sub-zero. Luckily, my gym is in the basement, so I have no excuses.

Joe, my wife feels the same, but thanks for the reminder.

Good luck. I have been on Lupron for 2 years now. Just a reminder: sex does not necessarily have to end .. you and your wife can still enjoy each other if you want. My wife and I stay very engaged on that point.

Blown...The trend seems to be the younger guys can still have sex even while on HT. Ive been on HT for about 18 months now and yes...the drive is not the same but can still have sex and still get the same orgasm. Its just that the "need" is no longer there. I have to trick my mind into wanting sex and it comes back to me.

My biggest side effects would be the occasional joint pain, weight gain and losing the ability to concentrate. Also have to say I am way more emotional than I used to be....but sometimes thats a good thing...I guess. I had about 2 or 3 hot flashes when I first started and have not had any since.

I've been on Lupron for 4 weeks now - just weak, body/miuscle aches at times and the hot flashes.

Diagnosed the end of Sept., PSA 3.3, 3 or 12 cores positive, G.S. 8, T1c,N-0,M-0;

HT; 5 wks IMRT and 2 intra-op brachy therapy days;

U.S., CT, Bone scan negative and MRI (from hell with the endorectal coil and no sedation was no fun - perhaps revise to T3 rather than T1c?) won't change the RX or my choice. I'm an x-ray and MRI technologist and radiation therapist for what it's worth - we just need to educate ourselves and make OUR best choice.

Based on the fact that I'm also headed for RT, and after reading the posts from guys who have been through both, I am starting to think about canceling my upcoming triathlon. Chances are I may not win. idea

Since you are only going to be hormones for 4-6 months ...the side effects won't be a severe as those of us on long term...and they will reverse pretty quickly after stopping...more of an annoyance. I've been on for several years.....have 10 or more hot flashes a day, 0 libido....funny after surgery and after SRT ..I had no problem getting wood ....but 2 years of Lupron and my woody has been turned to sawdust....my nuts have shrunk, but thank god for my girlfriend...she says I would rather have you than have sex....too bad in one way cause we had good sex for many years (close to 20years).Exercise is critical at this point...I've lost muscle mass.....I have mood swings, tend to forget stuff...lupron really sucks, but considering the alternative I'll take it, overall my QOL is good.
