PSA testing this week

My Uro's office sent me a reminder email today. Time for my six month PSA test. Looks like I'll go in on Thursday for the blood draw. Hoping to get a vampire that knows their business and not like the last one who didn't seem to know which end of the needle to use...

Got all the usually fears, anxieties and depression.

by the way, does drinking large amounts of beer affect PSA results? Just asking... ;)

Anyone else getting tested this week?

I feel for you..hubby went in a few weeks ago and I swear I was going to have a panic attack...but you know..it is what it is..just go and get it over with..just do it...and ****...I don't think beer has an effect on the PSA...hubby's was zero!!  That made me laugh..!!! On Friday, had my 11th @ 6 month psa test after completing IMRT as my primary and only treatment. Got the results this morning and things are still looking good. It took me a couple of years to get over the pre-test big time anxiety and just accept it. You will too.

That said, I always follow the same ritual each time I go in for the test! Test, wander down the street to a gun shop and fondle the fellows collection of way expensive side by side shotguns, back up the street to a dive bar for a beer and shot, and then home. My own little bit of voodoo. After about the 3rd time I wandered in to look at shotguns, the fellow jokingly asked me why I never bought anything and I explained I stopped in to cheer myself up after the psa tests. Now he greets me with a hearty "Alright, you're still vertical!"

I gave blood Friday.

I plan to pick up the results late this afternoon, but I have a meeting at work, so I may not be able to do it until tomorrow afternoon. I don't mind.

Andrew, I had my blood drawn yesterday and should get the results by the end of the week.

As at all the previous visits, I also had a thorough exam of the privates and abdomen, and a DRE. 

I'll share the results when I know them.  Good luck to both of us and to all who are getting tested.

Had my blood drawn this morning and last night dug through my stack of magazines and found plans for a whirligig.

Results likely to come in tomorrow (unless the doc decides to email rather than call, then I might know tonight).
