Hi: I had the DaVinci method for removal of my cancerous prostate in June 2012. I am now 62 and doing ok.

Incontinence is finally under control -- although the first 3 months were pretty rough.

I was supposed to get a VED thru my doc. I have a high-deductible insurance policy (I met the deductible in June after surgery), and in 1/2 hour -- hello 2013 -- I will be paying full price for everything again. The VED was supposed to go through all the insurance paperwork by tonight but it isn't happening. It was a Pos-T-Vac and their cost is $500.

So I'm looking around online, and see that I can buy the exact same brand and model for less than half.

Then I'm Googling around to see pluses and minuses of various brands. After searching this site, I read several threads about VEDs but most posts were several years old.

Any new info out there in the past few years that could help me decide what to get?

Not much has changed. High-end/high-price models are fine if insurance is participating, otherwise some of the simple varieties are fine. They may not have a lifetime warranty, but the replacement cost is low.

You might want to look at www.franktalk.org, which covers a lot of ED issues that can't be discussed in detail here because of the general audience.

Also, the purpose is important. If you are using it (as I am) for rehab only, the factors around bands and use of the bands isn't an issue. If you are using it for intercourse, the better brands are better. I use the TIMM ErecAid Esteem, which I did get covered under insurance.

I understand that high deductible. Mine is $3300. Made a run to the pharmacy today to refill everything I could under this year's rules. Pity is that since PCa came into the picture, I hit it every year by April or May.

Some of the guys here are a lot more familiar with what is in the market, and will probably speak up.

After much research I decided to buy the Vacurect pump. It has the most natural action, is comfortable and is easy to use. I strongly recommend it.

  Welcome to forum,this tool has been a godsend for me! turn I tried the Ericade or the 500$ one recommended by the URO ,I returnede it within the time limit after following their policy to a tee.It did not work any better than the  Encore FOR 100 $,I had better luck with the Encore and it had both battery and manual pumps,the key is to be shaven so you get a a seal and practice as much as ypuy can before the big event. The ericade rings are the best constrictors though.I use both the pump and QUADMIX INJECTIONS yeah I'm 18 mo post with some activity without help but not much.Good luck! turn

My doctor told me to go to an adult book store and buy one for $50. I ended up going to amazon.com and searching online. I believe it ended up paying around 100 for one. Good luck.

I have (and use and like and recommend) a Vacurect device. They have two models -- a prescription model that costs $500-ish and a consumer model that costs $200-ish. They are the same device. The more expensive model comes with a bit more stuff (more rings, more lube, etc.) but not $300 bucks worth.

X-3 on the Vacurect. Before my RRP, I used a conventional VED that has a typical ring launcher. The Vacurect is a much better design in my opinion.
