I posted here about
a month ago asking for help. 45 Years old. 12/11 PSA 2.6; 04/12 PSA 2.8; 12/12 PSA 4.46. I had a prostate biopsy one year ago which showed no cancer but my PSA was rising to the level of my last PSA which was in December 2012 (4.46). Have symptoms of urinary frequency.
My former urologist wanted to wait another six months for a PSA and many of you suggested that I find another urologist. I did that and had my appointment today.
Although I had signed a release form asking for all of my medical records to be sent to the new urologist they only sent the notes from my list office visit so the new doctor didn't have any of the old PSA readings or the pathology report from my biopsy. As you can imagine it was horribly frustrating. From my oral history he ordered another PSA test as well as a Free PSA test (which my old urologist had never ordered). Based on what they find on the new PSA test as well as (hopefully) the complete notes from my previous office visits and pathology report from the biopsy they will let me know what to do next. I did have a trace of blood in my urine today which I had never had in any previous visits to my knowledge.
I wanted to thank those of you who took the time to answer my question last month and who suggested that I change urologists. I really like the new Doctor's personality and he seems to be willing to listen to me. You have all done so much for each other and I am so pleased to have been able to know some of you. I wish you all the best and I will keep you updated if anything changes.
