I'm 77...The only test I ever had was ULTRA SOUND that shows no malignancy in my prostate.  I've had a very high psa for over a year now, but figured it was because of my enlarged prostate (bph) or I might have prostatitus.

My last psa shows 78, so my urologist convinced me to have a biopsy, which I am having Monday.  Everything is treatable.  I still can't urinate through my uritheta (penis) and that bothers my dearly.  Can this problem be corrected?

Get flomax drug or similar, worked well for me and I had total urinary blockage and had to go to emergency for immediate help. It is possible to have bph, prostatitis and PCa all at the same time....of course cannot know what your overall conditions are. Get a copy of that pathology report (legallly is yours to own in the USA), people herein can help you comprehend it more. Ask for flomax script asap and you will see it works well.

I agree! I have been on flomax your about a year 0.4 mg a day and it works!

I am currently on a pubic catheter and also on flomax. Will I ever be able to switch back to the proper way to urinate...through my penis?

In your post you said "Everything can be treated." You were right. Your urologist wants to know if you have PC before he decides what to do for you. But either way there are lots of options he will discuss with you for returning to normal urinary function. If you have BPH (even if you have the usual slow-growing, low-risk prostate cancer that many men your age have) then there are drugs that will shrink your prostate and help you pee. There are also treatments for BPH that reduce the pressure on your urethra that has you blocked up.

I'd be surprised if your urologist doesn't have several options for you any one of which will work.

Welcome to HW. You've got plenty of options the biopsy result will help decide what needs to be done.

Hang in there and let us know what the biopsy report says. Until you've got that it's just a guessing game on what more can be done for you. Sounds like your Uro is doing the right tests.
