Looking for a very special Urologist in the Phoenix Area

Reading Bluebird123's post: ( \https://www.healingwell.com/community/default.aspx?f=35&m=2631929 ) it made me think of a friend of mine whose PSA is 56. I saw him last week and he told me he is going in for his 13th biopsy. I would appreciate any feedback from fellow members it they know of any good uros that could find his cancer. Hopefully someone in this area is using the same process as Dr. Tewari.

Sorry Desertrat. We are in Phoenix but ours was one that was caught easily due to its 100% involvement.....kind of hard to miss. I am not so sure i would recommend him anyway. Good luck to you and your friend

Tell your friend to get an a plane and take a one hour flight to see Dr Bahn in Ventura CA. He is the only Dr on the west coast with the skill to DX such rare cases; Prostate Institute of America, 805 585 3082.
There is no reason your friend should have to put up with 13 biopsies when there are doctors and technologies that can identify PC in these rare cases. You won't hear about them from your friendly urologist, but by word of mouth from oncologists or forums like this who have no skin in insuring that only urologists can perform prostate biopsies. Interventional radiologists like Dr Bahn are much more qualified to do these procedures with greater accuracy. The top oncologists and PC coaches send their tough patients to Dr Bahn.
He found my cancer after 12 negative biopsies and a negative MRIS. I never knew that such doctor's existed until I was referred to him by my oncologist, who only specializes in PC.

Desertrat1, Finding doctors is so hard on these forums because there are so many people from different places on them. I would recommend signing up for www.healthtap.com and using their tool to find a doctor. They have a huge database and I've used it before. Best of luck.

After the normal MRI and CT Scans were unable to find my recurring PC (post radical prostatectomy), the radiation oncologist I was seeing at the time recommended I have a Carbon 11 Pet/CT Scan done.  It's a clinical trial, so insurance won't cover it.  The clinical trial/study is being done by Arizona Molecular Imaging and cost me $3K.  But, it found the PC.  The area identified as being the recurring PC had actually shown up on my MRI, but was "indeterminate" on my "unremarkable" MRI, so was ignored by everyone.
