Two month follow up today

I posted my pathology report a little while back. It looked ok. Seemed to be that the margins were not positive but not negative either. Anyways

I am down here in Houston at MD ANDERSON, I just had my blood test drawn and waiting for my 1100 appointment with Dr Kamat to talk to me about my pathology. Not sure where we go from here. So far he hasn't steered me wrong. We will see what he says

8 weeks after surgery I am mostly continent. I still wear a pad as I leak a little. One lasts all day without an issue. I change it at night before I goto bed after my shower and its dry in the AM. I go all day and about bed time, it could prolly need to be changed which happens since I swap them out at night.

ED side of the house. Without pills I would say I can manage about 50% its definitely not useable, with pills about 80%, ad barely useable. That doesn't seem to be getting better yet. I was one of the lucky one, I use the term loosely, that was getting semi-erections while the catheter was still in. While painful, it was worth it knowing there were signs of life.

Pain wise, completely no pain. If it wasn't for the having to think about no peeing myself when doing certain things I would t feel any different. Most of the leakage can be taken care of by making it a point to go to the bathroom every two hours or so. I only start to leak after about two hours and doing anything strenuous.

Hopefully I get good news here in an hour of so. And hopefully I get a nice ZERO on my PSA

Sounds like a pretty positive update, hope the doctor's visit portion goes equally as well for you.

What was the reason that your PSA was checked in the first place, leading to your PCa diagnosis?

We're about the same age. The fact that my PSA was checked was a "fluke" (and thank God for that!).

Mine was a fluke. Apparently a Corpsman at medical had taken it upon himself to make all men 40 and up get PSA tests. Navy doesn't do it until 50. After three people being caught early by this in the last 8 months. Our base medical does it at 40 now. They are saying they are going to be going back to Navy directives soon because of the continuing resolution and sequestration. We are all fixing to feel the big pinch in the military if we go a fifth year in a row without a budget.

Good for you Navy....Glad they caught it early. I kinda wished the Army was the same way as they didnt do a PSA on me until my 50 yr old physical. Not sure I would of had it at 40 but who knows. Great news on the zero and keep it going sailor!
