Update on Zimac's brain mets

Just an update on Bob's condition after he went through two craniotomies in Jan. for brain mets, developed 2 DVT's, one in each leg, and had 10 whole brain radiation treatments.

After his last radiation treatment at 7 a.m. we jumped on a plane at
11 a.m. despite the DVT's to attend our sons wedding. We made the wedding and Bob was able to dance until midnight. Although the fatigue was overwhelming at times he forced himself to stay awake and truly enjoyed every moment.

We are currently vacationing where Bob gets to enjoy the sunshine and the warm weather. He swims everyday and is recovering from his surgeries. Although the road is tough and I feel like we went to hell and back, we try to remain positive.

When we return home next week we will see the Oncologist to try and develop a plan but we are not rushing any treatments. For now, we are in recovery mode and enjoying one moment at a time.

Sorry I have not updated sooner. It's just been overwhelming.

What are you doing on the computer? Go for a nice walk on the beach with Bob!

Forget about doctors and treatments until you get back.

zimac & Bob,
It's been a beautiful day and your update made it complete. Thank you but now go "skinny dipping" like Bud suggested. Is one of your next goals to eat "craddadies" with Bud & his wife at the Cajun blowout ? Stay off the computer & help Bob get well..Yes, you have been to hell and back!! Keep your ammo dry.

Your post reminds me that we have a life to live in the midst of this mess. My Bob and I went for a walk in the first warm day of spring. What a simple pleasure it was to walk hand in hand. He hasn't been out much lately, but as it warms up, we will get out more. Enjoy your vacay!

thanks for your update. made me do a lot of thinking. despite what bob just went through, to have the ability to make that wedding, etc and push on. sure it had to be hard on him, and hard for you to watch.

I admire the two of you, greatly

Wow!  that is one impressive man, going through that and then having the great attitude, love and willpower to truly enjoy his son's wedding. 

I hope you both love every minute of the well-deserved vacation

Thanks everyone for those kind words. I do agree, Bob is an impressive guy and fighting with all his might. He's one tough warrior.

Bill - never had a crawdad yet but it s my goal to enjoy some at Cajun Jeff's in April. I may leave the skinny dipping to the rich and famous but you never know. There is a first time for everything.

Thanks for the update. April is just around the corner and we will give instructions on how to eat the crawfish. As Pigeon Flyer told me on the phone.. You know those things are just a snack to go with beer.

We're so happy to hear you're having a great time ! Enjoy and we SOOO want to meet you at GFMPH ! You're both heroes in our eyes.
We took the bait (and ATE it too) and went to Cajun Jeff's last year and wouldn't miss it for the world!
Got to head off to work, snow still on the ground But the sun is shining and our daughter will be in choir with us this morning, Life is good.Amen. My brief prayer of the day!

The clinical trail helped tremendously as he had a 70% reduction in his tumors. I don't think he will be able to continue on it because of his situation. Not sure what direction we will be taking next.

GFMPH - we have plans to attend the bash. Have my fingers and toes crossed. I need to meet everyone in person - its been way too long.

I am getting on this thread late, was busy all weekend but your good news about Bob made my Monday morning and has added a smile to my face. You made the wedding, Bob is healing and doing well, and you are still coming to GFMPH in April. This has been as our friend Bud would say a "Most gooderest day" We need more heroes like you and Bob, can't wait to hug you both in person next month.

I intend to live the Good Life until I can't. I refuse to let PC rob me of that too.

We forge ahead trying to think about PCa only when we have to. It certainly doesn't consume our lives.

Zimac,

I have been thinking about you and Bob, waiting and hoping for good news and was so happy to hear how well Bob is doing. Congratulations on your son's wedding, glad to hear that you are having a wonderful vacation. I will be sending healing thoughts your way for Bob's continuing health and recovery.
